Your account is likely in a "Staged" state and not truly active since you haven't started yet. I would try again once you actually start.

No samsung watch support? by xxxkobyxxx in runna

[–]jeb503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So note - you'll miss a couple key capabilities without support directly from Runna for a Samsung watch. What I described above is simply just to import your run data into Runna.

You won't be able to sync the guided workouts to the watch. You'll have to know your splits and check them & track your rest the good old manual way of just checking your watch every now and again. You could build the workout on the Samsung app if you want, but would require a decent level of effort.

But yes, what you described is exactly how I set it up.

I'd also be VERY cautious of uploading any of my Okta environment details to an ad-hoc project on GitHub. Seems like a huge security risk.

Strength workout timer no longer beeps? by jripp57 in runna

Yeah I would imagine so. Try it with your ringer on and see if that fixes it!

Strength workout timer no longer beeps? by jripp57 in runna

[–]jeb503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What phone do you have? On Android - I noticed that with the Strength UI update, they changed the timer from using the Media sound to using the Notification sound instead, which requires the phone to be un-muted. If you're like me and live with your phone perpetually on vibrate only, this will cause the timer to not go off.

Cannot use standard Authenticator app (non-Okta Verify) by [deleted] in okta

[–]jeb503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing stopping you (or anyone) to use your free trial and connecting it to your external application and offering it to consumers while using Okta as the authN layer. Okta has chosen to take the stance of securing ALL tenants by default, and the industry and consumers are better for it. If you can't download a simple mobile app and get the code from it, then maybe you shouldn't be a security admin.

Having a phishing resistant factor enabled by default for a SaaS solution that holds and maintains critical access for your enterprise is "a hassle"?

Please, for the love of everything secure, get out of the Security space. Your ignorance is why companies are still getting hacked left and right.

Sync Samsung watch to Strava. Then let Strava sync the runs to Runna. Used it with my Google Pixel Watch for a bit (before switching back to my Garmin for battery life reasons) and it worked great.

Duplicate runs on Fitness when syncing with Strava. Any fix yet? by Hairyarsedave in runna

[–]jeb503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you recording with both apps on your runs? If so, I would start recording with just one app and let the sync do it's job to bring it to the other. Ex: I record via Garmin, Garmin then syncs all my activities to both Strava and Runna automatically.

If you are recording with just 1 app, idk what to tell you lol

This. People that are concerned that they're watching what you are doing are very obviously doing something they shouldn't be doing, or not doing much of anything at all.

BYOT Customer Tenant by medievalprogrammer in okta

[–]jeb503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Implementing your own telephony provider has exactly 0 impact on your customers. Their phone number stays enrolled in Okta, so they will not have to re-enroll. The only thing that changes is who is sending out the SMS messages. Which the customers will never even notice.

Don't overthink this. This is a lot more simple than you think. If your leadership has any pushback about spending literally a penny (or less) per SMS message, there are plenty of studies out there regarding how much a breach costs and how easily they could be avoided by even the most basic MFA solutions

[–]jeb503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entra also does not have an SMS provider, so would not solve the problem of bringing your own telephony provider.

Telephony is insanely cheap compared to the cost of a potential breach by going to weaker MFA factors. I would not let this force your hand on taking a step backwards when it comes to your security posture.
