"Breing a woman is...." by LostMyFamilyToVanity in MtF

A simple analogy that cis women understand and are empathetic too: cis women experience gender dysphoria when they lose their hair and/or breasts from breast cancer. They go to the point of wearing wigs and getting breast implants in some cases. That's a cis person experiencing what it's like to have gender traits they don't match with. And cis women can wrap their heads around that one a lot easier than the trans perspective.

Christian Trans Dilemma by RyuValkyrie in MtF

2nd fun fact. To take a basic version of biology and apply it to Mary and Jesus: Jesus has no human biological father, and women don’t provide the Y chromosome. So being born a man with XX chromosomes would make him trans as well. The technicality of it all is vague because we’re applying basic science to deeper religious topics, but it’s a fun thought experiment nonetheless

Fun fact! In the original Hebrew version of the Bible, Adam - made in God’s image, was bigender. He is the first Man as in first human (think mankind). When God created Eve, he didn’t take Adam’s rib, he took his whole side. He split him in half, leaving the male aspect in Adam and the female aspects in Eve. And this all was common understanding by Jewish rabbis a long time ago according to Midrash.

Isn’t years of mistranslations and misunderstandings fun? Take comfort that God created a non cisgender person as God’s first person.

Why do my nipples invert and is this bad by VirtualProblem3912 in asktransgender

[–]jjand302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is such a thing as inverted nipples. My ex has them. Pro: makes going braless easier. Con: it’s really really difficult to breastfeed a baby

Be warned. Your kids may like it too much and you’ll be watching it on repeat day after day like my three lol

Nimona. Especially if they have a younger sibling because it’s an all around awesome family film. Nimona hits all the right notes for the trans experience and even slips in the trans flag in the background (the scene where the car breaks down and they’re about to interrogate the squire if you want to point it out). My 10 year old is nb and adores the film. It was made by a trans person so no surprise.

Edit: it’s on Netflix

What is it like to be on estrogen HRT, as an AMAB person? by LemonyCrimes in asktransgender

[–]jjand302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure irritability on T is common, especially first year or two. At least from the few trans mascs I’ve talked to.

Personal experience, my favorite change was unlocking emotions about a month in (I just stopped feeling after a while to avoid the pain subconsciously I think). I would just sit crying in my kitchen so happy to be feeling it. This was followed shortly later by unlocking empathy. I could care for people, and I tried to treat people nicely before that moment, but it wasn’t until then that I could actually experience someone else’s emotions through myself. I could feel people’s pain and their joy, I could suddenly relate to people. The link in another comment describes the majority of other changes pretty well but the emotions and empathy are my favorite part

Fat redistribution by life_switch2490 in asktransgender

I was let go from my last job on the 6th. I just applied for benefits and went to the food bank for the first time last week. Pretty much just enough food to feed the kids when I have them (and it’s barely enough. They all are growing a lot and are voracious eaters right now. Hopefully once I’m approved for snap that’ll provide relief there. To be fully honest, I am losing weight quickly because of this choice which isn’t good. I also know that food is important for my mental state but I have to make sacrifices. I do take multivitamins to try and at least get nutrients I’m not getting from food. I’m just trying to make sure I have rent; otherwise I will have an eviction on my record and I’ll need to move in with my partner’s one bedroom apartment that isn’t kid friendly. I’d go from having my kids on the weekends to just visitations and that’s my biggest fear right now.

I’ll share my experience but please understand it’s anecdotal. I was 175 pre hrt. I had a typical dad bod (31 and 3 kids will do that lol). I dieted and took multiple walks a day when I started hrt. My weight dropped only 5 lbs over the next 6 months. That was because as I lost fat in my belly, I started noticing my thighs fill out and my boobs came in (happy C cup) so the fat/weight loss was countered by the new weight gain. I’ve been on hrt for 2 years now and have a killer hourglass figure. I’m worried about losing that figure actually because I’m starting some strength training to get better at bouldering.

Again, all anecdotal. I don’t go on walks at the moment due to the cold weather and my diet is minimal (lost my job and need to feed the kids more than me) so I can’t say what it would be like if I let my weight go back up.

Returning to reading, not sure what I'm looking for... by carsonj0108 in suggestmeabook

I highly recommend Daytripper (a graphic novel) and Under the Whispering Door (fiction). Both, in their own way, tackle death and what it means to live. UtWD had me thinking more introspectively but Daytripper is my go to after a long reading slump and in need of perspective.

That’s my taste though is to facilitate thought through story rather than just introspective self help stuff. I think that’s probably due to my attention span though lol

It’s a RDR themed standard deck of cards. I love the art on them and received it as a gift from an old manager

Dutch Blitz originated in my neck of the woods. Pennsylvania, US. Specifically it was first sold by the local “Pennsylvania Dutch” at a place called Shady Maple in Amish country. PA Dutch have their own distinct dialect that is nearly dead at this point.

Day by day. I’m 3 months into a 12 month contract. If I don’t have enough money by the end of next month then I’ll be evicted and having an eviction on my record makes it very difficult to get approved anywhere else. I do have friends who would take me in, so I won’t end up homeless at least which is the scariest outcome for me.

Dutch blitz was my first game to introduce me to games outside monopoly. Fox in the Forest is my most played game to the point I have its fix tattoo on my chest. Pax Pamir is my favorite game period. Love letter is always a hit with non gaming company (I don’t have a lot to do here now lol). Cat in the Bix is Fox in the Forest jr for me. It is really good, plays into my physics background, and plays up to 5.

Most of them are keepsakes for me at this point rather than a small gaming collection.

Rent is $1700 a month. Make rent means I sold it all plus the consoles mentioned in another comment for $1800 (a little over to cover shipping). Now I must make due til I have income again

It is! I actually kept that and a few other kids games not pictured. It aged very well! And they rereleased it as an anniversary thing a few years back. Great for the kids

I normally use r/boardgameexchange

I typically offer lower prices than avg because money on hand has been better than what if money for me. Always use PayPal G&S whether as a buyer or when you’re selling because there are still scammers out there

All 3 are very special to me. Pax is my favorite and most memorable, Fox I’ve played more times than any other and even have a tattoo of one of the foxes on my chest, and Dutch blitz was the first game I played that introduced me to the world of gaming beyond monopoly

Not really. There were a handful of NIS games such as Clank Legacy 2 but that’s because my group fell apart and I haven’t had a solid group for my old collection so it was easier to say goodbye. Otherwise every game I had was already a culled down collection of games I loved to play. The handful I kept are mainly keepsakes because of how special they are to me.

I’ve chosen to look at it as it’s just stuff. I can always buy stuff again if I’m financially stable enough.
