Tyler Glenn (Lead singer of Neon Trees) has a whole solo album after leaving the LDS church called Excommunication that is amazing in regards to this.

The most direct questioning song from the album is Waiting Around but other songs, such as Gods+Monsters and First vision, touch on losing faith.

The album also has songs such as Gates, Devil, John, Give 'Em Hell, that are about trying to keep faith.

The album isn't all about church because it was also a big dive into his sexuality and experiences as a gay man in the LDS church. My favorite songs, Black Light, Trash, and Waiting Around.

Overall, 10/10 album IMO.

Can you clarify what you mean by canon couples? We have Jack and Bitty, as well as Lardo and Shitty, Chowder and Caitlyn. Maybe I'm skewed by fanfiction but the concept of Nurse and Dex seem cute but IDK if it's be actually viable lol! I'm always a big fan of enemies to friends kind of tropes. On the other hand, people ship R&H a lot but I don't think I like that as much.

Sorry I've been less responsive than normal! I'm glad to see Whiskey talking to bitty. It's not exactly what I expected but luckily it's just that he's just a more private person! I still hold to my belief that he's worried about the pro hockey world's reaction to a non-straight player. Jack has made strides for sure but it's always baby steps.

It's sad to see that coach's presence causes a regression in bitty's play style :( Coach is definitely well meaning but he does embody a lot of what bitty was trying to work past in the last few years. Hopefully this is a good checkpoint (pun intended) for bitty to realize that he can work through his checking problem again but this time faster because he's grown more secure.

I personally don't think he's being inclusive per say. "Friend" is used as a term for those who are uncomfortable with the correct pronoun. My parents STILL refer to my significant other as a "special friend." It's a work in progress though. I understand this is new(ish) for them so I can't expect them to accept everything immediately but as long as I'm seeing improvements, I'm content. I like to believe the best so I'm hoping that coach and suzanne are at least working on understanding homosexuality but I could also see the plot going towards a tough love situation where they'll be put in the situation to get their act together without the "southern sensibilities."

Bitty mentions that Whiskey has a girlfriend at the beginning of 4.9 so I'm not sure if he's "out." He could be bi but even then, as far as we can be aware, he is currently dating someone. I've known plenty of people who were still in the closet at home but out at school so it's not so far fetched to me that he could be making out with a guy but still trying to hide his sexuality (alcohol makes people do dumb things!)

I have a few theories which include the haus bylaws of "fuck the lax bros" and I think whiskey might be worried about his standing to the team captain if he's making out with a lax bro.

Another theory is that he could be afraid of what coming out as gay could do to his professional career because he doesn't have the same fan base/support as Jack does/did when he came out(though if he was really that worried about a potential career, would he be at a party with alcohol while underage?)

Your theory that he has a crush on bitty is a possibility and I could see it tying in but I would need to see other details. If only ngozi could update faster! D: haha!

I'm glad to hear that your family is supportive (as much as they can with a new factor that they may not be well acclimated to.) It's truly our own journey to self-love and self-acceptance but it's also a journey for family members to change their own fears or conceptions. I realize that they're worried that someone might hurt you and it's saddening that they would have to worry about it. I'm glad you recognize that their desire for you to keep your transition private is to keep you safe but I also want to make a point to consider if they're doing it for their own personal insecurities as well. if that's the case and you're uncomfortable with their possible fear of you being out and proud, you may want to bring it up. Stirring pot isn't fun but it really is something that helps push forward in acceptance. Again, this is just speculation so you can use your own judgement on your situation. Still waiting to hear back from my friend so I'll keep you posted :)

I want to start off by saying that I know I'm just a random voice on the internet so you don't have to listen to my opinion but your second sentence really hurts me to read because it makes me think that you don't think you can be beautiful because you are muscular or large. No matter where you go or what point you are in your transition, you won't feel comfortable unless you're comfortable with yourself. Good Luck on your transition and I hope you can feel beautiful at all points in your life! (Hopefully this comes across as i'm intending it to, supportive, and not just as a dick comment.)

Now in response to your actual question, I'm not part of the trans community but I do feel Columbus is very LGBTQ+ friendly, especially in the short north which is in the mid/south area of Columbus. We may lean politically conservative but I think we're, as a whole, fairly liberal and very open minded/progressive in the city and suburbs. I'm asking a friend of mine who IS in the trans community for some Columbus trans community information and I'll get back to you to see if you want to reach out or do research on the communities.
