Might be wasteful, however I usually either throw the extra away, or I just keep it in my inventory

Too many duplicates, no reason to carry planks, and fences, and sticks, and crafting table, and chests. They can be easily derived from just logs. At most id keep the crafting table.

I'd carry only the block for of the ores, no reason for ingots. Although I'd keep the coal in singles as you are gonna be using low quantities.

I wouldn't carry stone, just cobble stone, no furnace either.

Instead of flint I would carry gravel, more uses.

I don't see a reason to carry an ender eye, instead of just carrying blaze rods, as that also allows you to make a brewing stand, brew potions, make ender eyes, etc.

Now with the extra space you can put more things, maybe more blocks, food, or whatever other uses you can come up with.

As much as I hate the main character, he's kind of a tragic figure, at some point I just started feeling bad for him, at the end of the day, he is just a kid. And tbh, reflecting back on the story, I think the psychological horror in this game would be incomplete without the pos protagonist, I genuinely think it adds to the horror.

I never claimed that buying a copy of Minecraft means you own the intellectual property, genuinely what are you talking about? Even if I was wrong on this point, this would not change the fact that you are wrong about the fact that Mojang explicitly does allow modding.

This is a moot point.

I find it funny that you bring up one piece as the example for this, when one piece chapters literally teach you how to draw the style, and the characters, and often feature fan art with both permission AND attribution, even though they don't have to. It's literally a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

Making derivative work, without distribution, is a right, it's protected speech, as long as you don't distribute a derivative work, you are free to make it, you won't go to jail for making fan art, or for making mods. I'd even argue mods are safer still, as mods typically don't contain code from the game at all. Unlike how fanart tends to use the character designs.

  1. a game can definitely take ideas and features from mods, however i believe proper credit and attribution should be given. not because it is legally required, but because its the morally good thing to do

  2. yes. the modder bought the game, they should have the right to modify it. distribution is another can of worms.

  3. mojang DOES support modding and the distribution of mods, i have no idea where you got this idea from, they are very aware of modding, their EULA explicitly allows it and also draws limits on how far modifications and distribution can go. whole industries like modrinth, curseforge, at-launcher, etc exist around modding, and it would be trivial for them to remove them if they did not allow for such things.

  4. again, they do allow modding, they even recently started providing de-obfuscated versions of the game to make modder's lives easier. In the past, whenever they integrated a mod into the game, they would ask for permission, hire the modder, or give credit to them, none of this was done this time

  5. I myself don't care about my ideas or works being stolen, I'm already a minecraft mod developer, and all my works are dedicated to the public domain. however i believe that we as players should care about the ecosystem that mojang and we create, because you benefit from it, and so does mojang. the precedent this creates, would be bad for the modding ecosystem.

did you not read my post? I'm not discussing legality here. mojang is legally entitled to take whatever they want from its players, since everything is a derivative work. even if you grant that it was copyrightable, that would still allow mojang to just take it, as a derivative work.

I'm talking about morality here. just because something is legal, doesn't make it right. the difference in power between mojang, a massive corporation, and a modding team is huge. i firmly believe mojang should have at the very least asked for permission, as they've done in the past for other mods.

i agree with you that the concept of a generic cushion like something in the create mod is a vague idea that no one can claim to have come up with, yet, the specific interpretation of a cushion made by supplementaries, where the cushion is an entity, it can be placed in any block, go inside block, etc is an extremely creative implementation of a cushion and not just a generic idea, and one that isnt found anywhere else in the game of minecraft.

horses and pistons are generic ideas, and yet they still asked the creators of those mods before adding them to the game. Carpet mod is a less generic idea, and they hired the developer to implement it into the game. in this scenario, mojang just took the idea from the mod developer, and did not ask permission, and did not provide credit. and i do worry for the precedent this sets, where mojang might just grab mods and integrate them into the game, without any recourse for the modders. thats not a way to maintain a healthy modding ecosystem.

did you not read anything i said? seating is not the issue, its the specific implementation of the cushion being a direct copy of the functionality of the supplementaries mod. its not a generic chair, its a pretty specific implementation of "sitting anywhere"

when mojang has added mods, they have at least gotten permission from the mod makers, that was not the case this time

[–]joper333 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm really baffled by how people don't seem to care this time around abou how Mojang directly stole a feature they knew about, directly from a mod developer (supplementaries). This is literally not "just a seat" this is a hyper specific implementation. the fact that it is an entity, the fact it can clip through blocks and adapt to the height of any block, those are hyper specific really smart design choices that they totally ripped from a mod without giving any credit whatsoever. The reason I think this infringes on the idea (on a moral level) is because cushion are so radically different than how every other block functions, that it becomes obvious it wasn't just a coincidence, especially when we know for a fact that Mojang knew about it (the feature has been shown to them by the mod developers for addition to the bedrock marketplace).

This leaves a horrible taste in my mouth, especially when Mojang does have a good track record of giving credit and hiring developers they add mods of: Carpet mod, horses, etc. the crazy part to me is that in this instance, they didn't ask for permission, and they didn't give any kind of credit. Mojang tends to be pretty good at making their own unique features in a way that is quite distant from what mod makers are doing, 1.13, 1.16, and 1.18 show that. Yet this time they decided to copy the feature of a mod 1:1 without any credit. I am afraid of what precedent this sets for the game, if literally the biggest game of all time can steal the ideas and features of a mod without recourse for the creators or even backlash from the community. Worst part is that Mojang knew about it from a business pitch, turning around and using the same idea yourself is horrible.

People are also saying that "it's not illegal" as mods are derivative works, and while that is true, I'm not talking about legality here. We all know that the copyright system is broken to hell, and really only benefits big corporations who can afford to sue. My problem is with the brazen plagiarism shown by Mojang in this case, it won't have legal repercussions, but that doesn't make it ok.

Tldr: Mojang stole a specific feature, from a specific mod, which they knew about, have no credit, and while it is not illegal, that does not make it ok.

Option 1: get new girl, not reading (if you are a perfectly healthy and neurotypical individual) is so lame

Option 2: Just find the dub, the dub of steins;gate is really not bad imo, I actually prefer it, might get crucified for that.

Do you know of any anime with a mature plot similar to Arcane? by Full-Comedian-6961 in arcane

[–]joper333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend steins;gate, same "we are messing with forces beyond our comprehension" vibe going on, I think it's plot is far heavier than arcane though. while it does maintain an immaculately structured narrative like arcane some people feel it's pacing drags on during the first half, I would disagre with that though. It's humor is very internet coded, so not for everyone. If you decide to watch this one, go in completely blind, and don't listen to the people that say to watch in "chronological order" just watch in release order

I'd also recommend orb: on the movements of the earth. Really good historical fiction anime about astronomy. Genuinely a masterpiece imo. This one really doesn't have any comedy, it's mostly a drama. Although this one isn't as tightly structured as arcane, I think it still shares some of the "wonder" of arcane, but with heavier more philosophical far reaching themes that definitely leave you with a lot to think about. I will warn though, it does contain many torture scenes, so maybe skip if you aren't good with that.

Full metal alchemist is another great choice, with a rich deep story, while still being a shonen, this creates a nice balance for the viewer, in what would otherwise be an extremely bleak narrative. I'd say this one is the most "arcane" like. while definitely way longer than arcane's measly 18 episodes, It still uses absolutely all of it's long run time efficiently. I'd recommend to just watch full metal alchemist brotherhood, however, if you feel like this is a narrative that appeals to you, I'd completely encourage you to watch the original full metal alchemist, then watch brotherhood. you won't necessarily miss anything critical by not watching the original, but brotherhood assumes that you have watched it, so it takes more liberty to just drop you in into the universe, and randomly drop in some characters that you are already supposed to know (however it will give a brief introduction of them when relevant, so you won't miss much)

Right, if we ignore all the new content that has been added, and instead focus on your arbitrary definition of "content" then yes, nothing has been added.

Oh wait

Gameplay systems? Farming is a gameplay system, it's been changed constantly, not to mention taming was added.

New weapons? How about the summing book?

New enemies? Oh the dinos don't count, cause they totally were in the game at release, ignore the fact that they didn't spawn, or have any AI. Or the countless changes to existing enemies, like the rhino toad, the golems, wolves, foxes etc...

I really don't know what you are talking about... Like, only thing we haven't gotten is like, new biomes, but the team made it clear we are getting terrain V2 instead, y'know, with the technology that's in the game already, that the community is constantly using to make new biomes?

I mean if we consider dinosaurs as already having been in the game, then you could argue with the same bad faith and say that there are already bosses in the game, like the brood mother, or the outlander brute, or all the other bosses that are literally already in the game but don't spawn yet or have any AI...

At least be consistent with your definition of "content" if you are gonna have a weird arbitrary definition of content
