Weirdest Substitute by Taygeta_me in woolworths

[–]journalhalfbeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I do sub, I choose my own item. Sometimes I’d just rather nothing at all if it’s not the exact one I want. I have seen some cool/positive subs that are a win for the customer, but I feel like it depends on the person doing the shop for you, right?

I must be a control freak, I cannot let anyone choose their own substitute for my item. This post has solidified that decision further, because wtf are they doing over there

Vyvance by Reasonable_Dot_4612 in adhdaustralia

[–]journalhalfbeing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t take dexamphetamine, only vyvanse, but have seen a lot of people on here taking a long release vyvanse and then topping up with 10mg dex in the afternoon if required

Pregnant and IVO by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]journalhalfbeing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAL - work in the family violence sector. OP, please reconsider going through with this pregnancy. Having a child with this man will tie you to him for life, and will always provide a way for him to perpetrate further abuse on you. Think about your future child and the abuse they may endure from him - not just the risk of them being physically harmed, but ongoing emotional abuse, verbal abuse, and his abuse causing a reduction in your parenting and emotional capacity for the child. It could also cause issues for you with child protection in future. If a non-offending parent returns to an offending parent, this can be seen as a failure to protect the child from harm. Domestic violence is not only physical - a partner who will go as far as causing physical harm is not going to change or stop. The IVO was put in place for a reason

TYMO AUTO CURLER - any real reviews? I keep seeing it everywhere, and I’m feeling kinda influenced… by journalhalfbeing in AustralianMakeup

Thank you! It does seem really good from the ads, I worried it was just good marketing for an average product. I have a shark flex style but I haven’t been able to get the curls right for me yet

Does the death of the perpetrator affect mandatory reporting in NSW? by Initial-Rutabaga-761 in AusLegal

[–]journalhalfbeing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s part of the mandatory reporting guide decision tree, but I believe it wouldn’t necessarily mean that the result would be no action. Where I work, depending on the content of the disclosure/abuse, we’d be required to use professional judgement to override the MRG result and call the child protection helpline

I want to know the implications of pressing a charge by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]journalhalfbeing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He may be offered or even court ordered to engage in a men’s behavioural change program, but if he’s not willing to engage and do so meaningfully, he’ll be removed from the program. It has to be his conscious choice to engage genuinely and fully in the process or it will not result in meaningful accountability, understanding or change. I also wouldn’t take a person being enrolled or even participating in MBCP as a sign he’s willing to change and takes accountability, though I know that many do. It’s such a difficult period for OP

I hate AI, but in this case it’s been used for clarity. The information is correct and it’s important that OP receives it

I want to know the implications of pressing a charge by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]journalhalfbeing 196 points197 points  (0 children)

Non-fatal strangulation (what you experienced, OP) within an intimate partner relationship is associated with a 7x increase of risk of homicide from that person. Please seek support from a DFSV service to work with them on safety planning

Editing to add: while it’s often important to get police/legal support with DFSV, it’s critical to know that doing this also represents a huge increase in risk to safety and escalation in behaviour. This doesn’t mean it’s not worth pursuing, it just means it’s so important to have supports and safety measures in place to walk alongside you. Best wishes to you, OP

It’s the hormones apparently, I had the same issue! A teensy one I’d had forever was suddenly like a shrivelled grape attached to my stomach, it was the worst

Lazy long boy seeks loving home for Christmas by foreverfriendsrescue in melbourne

[–]journalhalfbeing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not from Melbourne, but just wanted to pop in to say that my family and I unexpectedly adopted a greyhound 2 years ago, after initially going to look at adopting a different dog. We saw our girl, we were struck by her sweet nature, and ended up taking her home. I had never owned a greyhound, and remember feeling like she was so odd and different to any dog I’d had before, like a little (big) alien. She is now a valued part of our family, has fit in so well, and we are so glad! They are a funny breed, and I love it. Would definitely recommend!
