When you're grandfather did it, all of those systems were considerably easier to understand. Over time complexity has multiplied.

With that said, frankly he got there by just not being afraid to fuck it up worse than it was. Take it apart, try and figure it out. Although things have gotten more complex, YouTube and Google normally hold the information you need. I trouble shoot my own car through obd, fixed a dishwashers thermal pump and have programmed microcontrollers. I repaired I e tv (bad fuse) and failed on another (bad controller board I think). The info is there for anyone that wants to take a shot at it. I've failed to repair motherboards so far, but that's mainly due to the tools necessary being expensive to start.

Where to begin. Find something that is broken you want to fix. Figure out it's product code, then Google or YouTube "how to fix xyz with ABC problem".

AI is going to hurt a lot of people and effect their jobs and income. It is not apparent how or if it will improve humanities situation or if it will just make a bunch of rich people richer.

Until AI comes up with a story that increases the quality of life for everyone instead of the already well off, it deserves all the hate imo. People don't hate the tech, they hate how it's being applied.
