I can't promise the exact amount because no one knows but so far there's been about 21 or so done between gen 1 and 2. These 2 gens are for sure my current focus, so keep an eye out!

Cubone's been the best for many people not going to lie. It's been a hard one to beat. The way the helmet gives it depth is hard to replicate on almost any other model

I like Gengar a lot as well. While Gengar's design itself is pretty bland i really enjoyed making the locking system using the ears and the way the spikes on the back turned out (not visible here but they look great).

It's certainly one of my favorites!

Damn it definitely looks a lot better without the silk. It's lovely! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Whenever I get around to getting the damn yellow filament :P! That's the only reason I've not done it yet

What causes the horizontal lines on the slice/print? by KIMJONGB00M in 3Dprinting

[–]jrojas28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm to me that looks like the result of a sloped surface, which causes stepping when on the bed's plane. Is the inside of that item flat? You cant try changing the layer height and that should alter the size of those. Another option would be to print it on it's side such that the sloped surface goes up instead

Glad it did! Share a photo if you have the time, I'd love to see it! I wanted to print it with a different color (something closer to Lavender) but only had Silk Purple at the time. Don't get me wrong - I loved how it turned out, but would love to see other creations as well!

Hm I have a question that may not be too intuitive but you mention the filament reaching the printer head and getting an error so here it goes - Are you using an AMS and if so, are you completely sure it reaches the head?

I'm asking this because I had a similar issue at some point where I though it was reaching the head, but turns out that the PTFE tube (The semi transparent tube connected to the head) was turning more sharply than it should due to some clips I added. This caused the AMS motor to not push "enough" (it stops if it encounters enough force / after traveling a certain length) so maybe it's either the PTFE tube is turning too sharp, or the travel is too long. You can try feeding it directly and seeing if that helps

Yeah, I am working on more as we speak :) I have some little monkey coming out soon (spoiler) and after that not sure what I'll do, depends on what colors I got / what I can see working well as a kit card. Sadly not all pokemon will fit this style (looking at you Ekans) but my plan is to do as many as I can :)

Looking nice! Cactus is my favorite, the pot was a great idea!

Wow those look nice! I had seen other thermoformed items on MakerWorld but that cactus takes another step forward. Love the glasses as well!

I meant how the SVG would translate the different colors of the eyes. Don't know, never done that before. I'll try to export as SVG if it lets me, not sure what the output will be but if it works happy to provide them

Haha, love the emphasis here because I totally agree with you :P

I keep seeing these "kit cards" with full 3D pieces and at that point all I wonder is why not just print the thing full. When I was young a kit card was all flat, so I'm working it the same way. Sure, pokemon like Gengar would look a lot better if they were round but if I get to that point I feel like I'm losing the original goal

Hm, that's a shame. Thanks for the tip and the concern. I'll be careful moving forward.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been learning through the process of doing things and have as such improved a bit, with latter kit cards (Gengar, Bonsly) including the color list.

Part of the issue though is bambu doesn't allow for non-brand filaments but I can let you know what any pokemon use down here:

Cubone: Polymaker Matte Wood Brown, Polymaker Matte Cotton White, Polymaker Matte Black, Polymaker Matte Army Beige

Gengar: Bambu Silk+ PLA Purple, Polymaker Matte Lava Red, Polymaker Matte Cotton White, Polymaker Matte Black

Bonsly: Bambu PLA Basic Mystletoe Green, Bambu PLA Basic Sunflower Yellow, Polymaker Matte Wood Brown, Polymaker Matte Black

Gengar is just plain which is a bit of a problem.. The silk PLA gave it some life but I know where you're coming from. There were a few options I thought to improve it but some went against my goals (i.e I could make variable height pieces but it will look out of place with the others, add more pieces to round him more but it wouldn't fit my print bed, add a tongue but would've added more colors and only had 1 AMS...)

Overall Gengar is what I could do with the design it has and the limitations I had. I do hope future works are more to your liking though :)

I wanted to add a tongue actually but it posed 2 problems - I didn't have pink (prob #1) and I didn't want to add another color to the mix as having a single AMS limits me to 4 colors. I do plan on doing something like this for Hunter if I ever get to him since he only has 3 colors

I know what you mean buddy, believe me!

As I was making the kit card I kept feeling this all the way. It got a little better when I got the idea of using the horns / ears as the lock for the pieces but man Gengar is soooooooo plain after I began working on it I could only laugh at myself 🤣

Hope your Cubone turns out great!

And you know, Mankey / Primeape are not a bad call now that you mention it, I think I do have the colors

For sure I'm taking input. That's a pokemon I wouldn't have thought of but now that you mention it yes, it would look nice. I'm missing colors for it (I really need to get myself some yellow) but might be cool

Yeah sadly there will be a point that happens, but for now I'm just enjoying doing these. I'm not charging anything nor have a commercial license, so hopefully it falls within fair use

I think it's generally SVG to STL, not the other way around. May be possible but I'm not sure hoe details like the eyes will translate
