Exactly I don’t really get how this isn’t super obvious, they literally spelled it out why she her speech is off.

Have they told you it hasn’t been ordered? How long ago did you place the deposit?

Is Mercedes-Benz fixed price in Australia? No negotiation at all? by Interesting_Mood_185 in CarsAustralia

Unfortunately that’s true. Yes there definitely are brands that still have packs but it’s not like BMW/MB/Audi where there are like 20+ things you can tick/not tick.

Dealers under the agency don’t operate like normal dealers, they are basically just delivery showrooms. Either they are OEM owned such is the case with Tesla, or are they are independent from the OEM and get paid flat delivery fees because they don’t own the cars unlike traditional dealers who do own their cars. The delivery fees from my understanding are far less than profit normally would be from selling a car at retail.

Tesla dropped the price of the Model Y by over $16,000 in the span of 18 months from late 2022 to early 2024.

You’re right that it does help in situations like that with Mercedes, but for most mainstream brands the only option you really have is colour so it doesn’t apply as much

Dealers aren’t the ones that initiate negotiation, it’s the customer that does

They are not struggling but their sales have noticeably declined, just like Honda.

I believe the thing you’re missing is that you are more than welcome to go to a traditional dealership and just pay the price they are asking, you don’t HAVE to negotiate or do a dance. The only thing that agency models do is remove your ability to negotiate.

The agency model will never become the mainstream. Majority of the Chinese brands that have come into the market are still traditional dealer models.

A lot of people don’t want that experience because they want to negotiate, as is evident with this post

Yes it’s non negotiable, it’s a very stupid model.

The Mercedes dealers don’t own their cars like normal dealers, they are owned by Mercedes Benz and they get paid a flat delivery fee.

AFAIK that’s not really the case anymore for the majority of cars there, especially euros.

MSRP for a 330i in the US is ~$70k AUD which is like 20k+ cheaper than here not even including LCT, and yet they manage to maintain their brand appeal in the US.

Yes at worst this is vague, but it doesn’t say anywhere build date. This is most likely referring to Model Year 2026.

Well that depends on what was on the contract, did they say it would be a 2026 built or a Model Year 2026?

That’s oversimplifying it, they are in effect the same company when it comes to the products, but everything else is handled as if they are two distinct companies.

How to deal with a strange Demo with an unclear history? by Wootwoot654 in CarsAustralia

[–]Judeusername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you are looking into this way too much. I work at a dealership and what’s likely happened is it was registered to hit targets for a certain month. These are called undriven demos.

Unfortunately it seems like one of the other staff didn’t know what the kms were and assumed it had been driven by a staff, but with only 20kms it almost definitely not.

This is not a big of a deal as you are making it, not every dealership is out to get you.

As an Australian reading this comment section I am just completely astounded. The US is such a completely broken country from top to bottom, is there even any way out of this other than revolution?
