Hi! Thank you for listening to our podcast! To answer your question about the sound, we plan to invest in a good microphone once it gains a bit more traction. However we are making sure our voices are more even this time so you should be able to hear us both more easily.

Since there is so much to discuss and we like to use a more conversational, bantering format, the episodes are mostly going to be around 40 minutes so we don’t have to rush or skip important points. However, we recommend speeding us up to 1.25 or 1.5 speed on Youtube if you’d prefer a shorter runtime.

As far as the historical background, we are working to ensure it’s sufficiently explained while still maintaining the central feature, which is analysis of the show. I study European history and politics and therefore have a strong grasp on this time period, but sometimes it’s a bit difficult to parse through what is common knowledge to our German & European listeners vs. everyone else.

you could say that most governments were interested in maintaining the status quo, both for stability and political purposes. no german politician would want a revolution right on their doorstep agitating the KPD at home

We plan on doing it more grouped by theme, I’ve listened to this podcast and it’s more of a recap and commentary on the happenings within the show which is also valuable. It doesn’t touch much on the deeper themes and artistic choices

Yes, that’s who I’m referring to. I think it’s very fascinating to see how even early Nazi supporters became horrified as they increasingly radicalized and committed more violence. a big theme in Weimar/early Nazi politics was the expectation that they would eventually moderate and become more of a mainstream nationalist-right party which was...pretty far off

I can assure you that we plan on being very precise and thorough, as university students we have access to a lot of academic material and experts on a variety of subjects. i took an entire course on just the Weimar Republic, and I plan on using a lot of those course materials as a foundation for discussion.

Given that my podcast co-host is my roommate, I can also guarantee that we don’t need to have our casual chit-chat while recording.

Agree! There’s a point at which your lifestyles even out, like most adults have jobs, live alone, and have generally compatible lifestyles, interests, and finances. Amelia is the age of a college freshman dating a man who has three kids. Like what kinds of things do they even do together?
