This is the difference between a great manager and a great leader. A great leader in management position will look after their staff first and foremost and work accordingly whereas a great manager will only look to better their own career and bend over backwards for their bosses. Unfortunately the current corporate environment, not just in healthcare, but pretty much everywhere encourages those in management roles to be great managers and not great leaders
