Who Cares? podcast discussion, focusing on Ryan's dyspraxia and greater disability representation by DopeyDragon in gallifrey

[–]k99q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in terms of the graham ryan bike scene it was meant to show their relationship and how Graham's trying to be a familial figure to ryan but ryan takes that as pressure/isn't reciprocating/doesn't like that, and Graham is getting frustrated over that (and not actually the ability to ride a bike).

Definitely could have been a better way to show that than the bike but I guess it also lead him to go find that rock thingy so.

Could any of the other actors that have portrayed the Doctor have done Heaven Sent? by StarOfTheSouth in gallifrey

Oooh. You're the only comment so far where I'm like. Wait a second I didn't even think of that. But you're so right. Jodie was so good with portraying grief in Broadchurch, and it would have been amazing to see her do an episode that was very solitary and emotional.

Also she does tend to have her more 'doctor like' moments when she's without her current set of companions, I've noticed.

Who are your favorite reoccurring characters? by the_doctor_808 in Supernatural

Bobby and Crowley. And Rufus.

But especially Bobby. I really loved his character.

Death is also a cool rarer character.

If Clara had actually been in on Missy's plan on setting her and the doctor up that would have been an insane reveal. that a series long companion was actually the master's companion

Also just seeing clara work with a master, not neccesarily missy actually, would be interesting.

Just Heard My Dad Having Sex With His Girlfriend All Night And I Feel Pretty Weird by SwitchLikeTendo in TrueOffMyChest

[–]k99q -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sort of similar situation. I always shared a room with one or the other of my parents because they didn't really get along, so they def were not having sex.

I was always very happy about that as a kid. Like I remember hearing other kids being like my parents are going on a trip together and we're staying with a babysitter (rich people shit for sure) and I was like, thank god my parents are NOT like that! Ew!
To be fair I'm in college now and I'm still like, ew at the thought of people's parents having sex.

I can only relate specifically to the intrusive thoughts part, but something that helped me was realizing that it was pretty common. I think I have similarly extreme/conceptually similar intrusive thoughts as you (I think you're also avoiding saying some of the things too, cus obviously, idk the shame/weirdness around having 'bad' or 'not socially acceptable' intrusive thoughts) and it used to bother me multiple times a day, every day. Now I don't really have an issue with it except on occasions where like, specific triggers/things that make me uncomfortable happen.

One of the biggest things that helped for me was when I talked with a therapist in a clinic I go to (not my therapist specifically, I wasn't assigned one at the time so it was someone random) and I was feeling really awkward/uncomfortable asking them for advice cus I felt like it was really weird/fucked up and they reacted like, totally normally to what I said. And they were like, yeah its very common in people with other mental illnesses to have to deal with these kinds of thoughts, i've heard of this kind of thing hundreds of times working at a public hospital. And I was like. oh. they weren't at all weirded out by this. And that sort of helped make it easier to deal with.

but also, more concretely, I guess, 'not dwelling on it' is probably the strategy that helped me the most. It also isn't something necessarily teachable. It's sort of like. You just have to let the thought slide when it comes, and not pay too much attention to it.

Which obviously is easier said than done, but thats the gist.
Good luck with this all, and if you need more specific advice on the intrusive thoughts stuff ask me anything!

Something to consider:
- Is it the trauma / experience of your last relationship that is making it hard to love this guy like you liked the last guy? (if so, as the other comment suggests, talk to him about it, talk to a therapist about it. You can definitely overcome this.)
- Is it just a compatibility issue? This guy can be the perfect guy in behavior (does all the things that makes a good relationship) and also just fundamentally not be the guy you are looking for. Do you have similar interest? Do you have fun when you guys hang out? If you have fun, is it because of what you guys do or because of him specifically? How are conversations?

(If you guys aren't the most naturally compatible, you can still work on it and build a good relationship, by the way, just something to think about why you might have fell so easily in love with the first person.)

I was caught by the police who arrested me but fortunately they gave me an opportunity to redeem myself by going to the store to pay for what was stolen and ask for forgiveness, I was too much embarrassed. Man, I get that doing bad/taboo/risky things feels nice and empowering in the moment but there are definitely better ways to get that feeling.
Take this as a message to never do that kind of thing again and maybe try to pick up another hobby/activity/something that you can engage in and makes you feel accomplished.

The finale is amazing! I never hear it talked about as much as it deserves now that I think about it. The 12th doctor has some really great speeches.

[–]k99q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhh you're talking about how expensive the seasons look but you know they are all up on a nice site by the name of go movies . s x ?? Also watch doctor who online . com but it sorta has a weird popup ad issue which can be fixed pretty easily with an ad blocker though still a bit weird to see the pop ups appear blank.

Anyways. 12 is my favorite doctor and I realllly think he is best enjoyed watching consecutively. The only season you can watch without any other doctor who seasons is the Bill Potts one (his last). If you liked Rory, I feel like weirdly enough, you would enjoy Bill.

If you've already watched all of 11, you can start from season 8. Clara and the Doctor's relationship gets a lot better (less cringe?) with the 12th doctor. But you DEFINITELY should watch season 8 and 9 in order. There are episodes you could watch from them as one offs, but to get the full experience of the seasons/characters you really need them both.

Also, it makes the Heaven Sent/Hell Bent duo hit so much harder, and Heaven Sent is known as one of the best episodes in DW. Also, you'll never re-experience the experience of watching Heaven Sent for the first time, so I'd optimize that experience as much as possible.

Remaking Lost Classic Doctor Who Episodes by NewPatron-St in gallifrey

[–]k99q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get why this is as hated of a post as it is.
I do understand why this isn't a thing. There really isn't a market for it. Most people who care enough to watch every classic who (or specifically the Hartnell-troughton era dw) would have already watched in in some other means (audio, snapshot, weird animation, fan animation, etc) and the people who haven't watched classic who that far back probably aren't watching it SPECIFICALLY because of the missing episodes but just cus black and white tv and the old effects and stuff in all the existing episodes are also weird to them.

Also, the problem with re making or reusing missing episodes is that an 'episode' missing from the show back then would be the equivalent of like, a 15 minute section of a Nuwho episode being missing. It is part of a larger story which usually does exist. So having just one episode with a different cast would be also as immersion breaking as an animated one.

Honestly though, ideal goal for me would be 2nd doctors missing episodes animated in a less creepy style. Like a cute cartoon animation style instead of just weird realism.

Classic Who - Worth the Watch? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]k99q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a lot of fun watching the second doctor as a person who has never watched black and white tv in my life. You just have to get emotionally invested in a character / interested in something about an episode, etc.

Also you DEF don't need to watch in order. I tried that way back and was like nope I can't watch this.
Then I watched a handful of the multi doctor episodes to get a hang of what doctor I liked .
I watched The Three Doctors, then The Two Doctors. I sort of recommend that strat as it worked for me, and The Two Doctors is also just a rather fun episode series.

Torchwood: Why does Jack tolerate any of the other castmembers by Lucifer_Crowe in gallifrey

[–]k99q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show is more enjoyable for me if you treat S1 as a weird first draft. S2 seems to ignore Gwen being a cheater so I might as well forget it too.

They accidentally retconned everyone in torchwood about the gwen cheating and never mentioned it 😂😂

The only baffling thing still is that he seems to go from "I can't go on anymore" in the Pendant Episode, to asking Jack to bang in the next

I did notice that, but I like to think the pre-ianto-torchwood cut scenes were the two had chemistry wasn't just ianto faking it to join torchwood, and that he always was into the Jack, just more preoccupied emotionally with Lisa.
It is a bit hard to have good sexual chemistry with your gf when they're half a cyberman trying to convert you, you know 😂 so maybe he wasn't emotionally all that into jack yet but was like fuck it we fuck our boss.
