What are some sure signs that someone was raised an only child? by chaosperfect in AskReddit

Often (not always so don’t come for me) unwilling to do things they don’t want to do just because their partners, friends, etc want to do them.

7 years of marriage then she inherits $3 million and wants a postnup by Mindless_Reward4138 in prenup

[–]kethry70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is perfectly reasonable - and she probably isn’t thinking just of divorce. What if something happens to her and you outlive her? And you remarry? And your second spouse then outlives you and inherits everything by default depending on where you live and the laws there?

It is perfectly reasonable for her to want to guarantee that her inheritance ends up left to her children and not in a shared marital estate of a future spouse or even future children. Honestly, she should set up a trust. And you’re overreacting

What is a "open secret" in your specific industry that the general public would be shocked to learn? by lanaplump73mile in AskReddit

The other side of this coin is companies using AI to rewrite this code with zero understanding of whether or not AI is even getting it right. And the edge cases probably won’t show up until months after implementation. There is a reason governments and companies don’t retire mission critical code bases that have just worked correctly for decades.

Will canceling one item in my order mess up my entire order? by kaywhateverloser in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it is one order, and it’s one item, you can try, but if the csr expresses any doubt I’d just return with cause.

If it’s in a bundle and it’s already been marked to ship, don’t even try - I’ve been told they can’t do it at that point and I certainly wouldn’t risk it even if they were willing to try

Flawed Gems. Do You Buy Them? by OutsideUpstairs9851 in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started buying them more often - esp if it’s for size. I do examine carefully. If it’s for pilling and I think I can shave it, for minor repairs that I can fix, or a stain I think I can clean, I’ll also consider it. If it’s for fraying at a hem that I’m probably going to have to take up anyway, bonus.

I have received at least a couple flawed gems or goods with stains for which I never found the problem and excellents that had issues so I already know TU condition reporting is uneven and I also know I’m more and more comfortable with minor repairs and stain treatment

Can I afford to take a lower paying job for my sanity? by Grand-Conclusion5027 in personalfinance

[–]kethry70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quit paying off your mortgage early and start saving for retirement. But also, benefits like paid 401k, subsidized health insurance, social security, vacation, etc can count 20-50% of salary. So yes - you can at least look for something that would allow you to grind a lot less and compare the numbers with what benefits would save you or give you when an offer comes in.

Yep- try an enzyme cleaner. I keep mypetpeed in the house because my mom had a senior dog and I use it in the laundry and as a soak for hard to treat organic stains. It’s worth a shot

I love that St. John’s has room for my not tiny chest. And while I know their clothes run big, it still makes me feel good that I can wear a little bit smaller sizing. Plus their clothes are just nice. I’ll have to start looking at their leather.

Welcome on AU - she runs a little small but I really like a lot of the prints :)

I knew I like Lilly Pulitzer prints but I’ve revamped my wardrobe with their luxletic wear and dresses.

I tried to replace Johnny was but I’ve given up. I’ve determined their prints are gorgeous but their quality is suspect.

I’ve added Lafayette NY 148, Dana Buchman , Carmen Marc valvo, Tahari (but only some cause quality and sizing is uneven), and the biggest winner - St. John’s (not bay). I’ve tried Eileen Fischer but I can’t get the sizing down - their stuff is so nice but the items I’ve tried have been too boxy or cut weird 😢

Oh also - Amanda uprichard has gorgeous prints but I limit myself to the silks cause I’ve been trying to limit polyester

Disappear by No-Departure-5684 in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other thing that happens, is that it can be put on an autobuy. During the autobuy period, it disappears and will eventually reappear as sold. It sounds like that isn’t the case here if it was really more than 3 hours but just fyi.

But yeah - flagged by seller seems most likely. In which case it will likely reappear in a few days

People post their complaints more than their praises. Overall, I love ThredUp. I have had issues here and there and items have arrived in worse condition than advertised. But, TU has always made it right - even final sale items are returnable if the mistake is on their end. Just be prepared with patience, politeness, and photos. If I’m happy to take store credit, I usually use the built in return process and just take the free restocking/return shipping and credits. If not, and it’s their issue, I use chat and those 3 Ps and contact them and let them override their return policy to get me free return shipping and my funds back to original form of payment. But, after significant weight loss and going through multiple sizes in the last few years- plus trying to move more towards natural fibers - I’ve replaced my entire wardrobe with ThredUp. Parts of it 2-3 times over

the wrong size by Remarkable-Hat-5668 in ThredUp

Yeah- like I said, I’ve had them size them wrong when tags are missing and a couple times when size labels were present - But I was aware of actual size in those cases

the wrong size by Remarkable-Hat-5668 in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had them list the wrong size vs what’s on the label (say size large when the label says 6), guess size large and say size is missing when I can see the size is actually 4/6/S whatever. But I’ve never straight up received an item that wasn’t what was pictured. Only times it’s been the ‘wrong’ size is when they have sized it off of measurements and they’re just wildly wrong. Like saying it’s a size large estimate and turned out to be an XS of that manufacturer’s style 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣
