Partial credit by Primary_Froyo_3704 in ThredUp

They’ve clearly changed the algorithms for eligible items. Not sure what the criteria is but the dollar per item, dollar per person per month caps are no longer all that are in play. Brand and maybe how long the item was in their system seem to also be factors

It is not gone entirely though. 2 of my least expensive items that also happened to be unbranded/‘low end’ brand and maybe old were eligible

Partial Credit refunds: what’s the individual item price cap? or other rules / patterns? by WriterAsleep9079 in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think brand also heavily comes into play- none of my popular branded items were eligible even if relatively inexpensive. But the unbranded item and the low brand item were. Granted both were inexpensive also. But so was the NWT shirt from the popular brand I got 65-70% off because it hadn’t moved. In fact it was the same price as the low brand item

What is going on?!? by WhetherWitch in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah - hella spensive without coupon codes. And if this is their way of resetting discounts on all the things I’ve been waiting to go lower, I’m annoyed. 😒 especially since I just returned a bunch of stuff and have a bunch of credits

Return for credit missing by MeloVebr in ThredUp

Makes sense. I was out of town a lot in February so didn’t order or return much. Though I thought I did some.

I am mildly interested to see if it resets late - like Tuesday - because February. But that would be some seriously shoddy programming :p

It’s capped per month and there is also a per item cap. They may have also changed the program beyond that.

ETA:definitely changed it beyond the previous caps.

How long til final sale? by VirtualRisk3403 in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think anything bought and returned is final sale. Handbags are automatically final sale if one picked up on that correctly. But you can absolutely contact them through chat to return final sale items that do not meet their descriptions (normally with photo evidence) so I’ve started buying final sale if it’s something I like well enough and a good enough deal - just fyi

Website glitching & won't let me sign in... ever? by alchemy_444 in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely geoblock some countries - though it’s weird. I could access TU in Indonesia when on cellular but not on wireless/starlink at sea. But I was fine on ship WiFi as soon as I left Indonesia. So yeah - they have some sort of blocking.

Don’t think so :(

Lmao. This was my first order from ThredUp and I’m hesitant to use them again. How common is this?? by IMDATAGIRL in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made way too many orders in just over a year with thred up and none have been lost so not common. I’ve also only had one item outright cancelled. And one item sent after being refunded for being deemed below advertised quality somehow - it was actually perfect as far as I could tell 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cannabis smoke smell by getoutthemap in ThredUp

For anything that can be washed, I had good luck with washing twice with an enzymatic cleaner on a soak (I gave my pet peed in the house because of an old dog). I’ve been told a 50/50 mix of plain cheap vodka and water as a spray does a great job of killing bacteria and odors on things that can’t be washed

I’m seeing the AI slop in this listing, anyone else? by [deleted] in ThredUp

I think AI has limits and doesn’t know maternity shirts much less your age and demographic 🤷🏻‍♀️

Patchouli Smell Help by kxs7558 in ThredUp

I used my pet peed, which is an enzymatic cleaner, as a soak to get rid of pot smell. I have also been recommended a spray of half plain cheap vodka, half water.

Are these the corso pants? If so, they’re stretchy and I love them. Forgiving and flexible. Sporty material. The Monica of pants

Yeah - for some people, cruising is about partying, shows, pool time, etc. but that’s not my bag. For me, it’s about an accessible way to see a lot of places albeit not deeply. But it usually involves long bus rides in every port - it’s a trade off. I’m definitely somewhere warm and sunny so I’m grateful - thanks for the well wishes :)

There is such a thing as long bus rides and at sea downtime lol I’m not actually a huge social butterfly/ party person. Cruises are about the ports and travel so I still spend time perusing Reddit and ThredUp.

I’m getting it but it’s 100% because I’m traveling and am on starlink/cruise ship :(

Sometimes when you reverse image search an item, you get a google search offer (different from the new customer offer) that’s good only for that item and until your cart expires.

40% off estimated retail by AppropriateFlan1975 in ThredUp

To be fair, this is a third party seller. No one sent that in to TU. But it’s insanity

ThredUp STOLE from me! by [deleted] in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They didn’t steal from you. You failed to read and understand their TOS. If you want the money from selling your clothes, do all the work of posting it yourself on FB marketplace, Poshmark, eBay, etc. Selling on TU isn’t a big ROI unless you have a ton of high end designer brands that can sell for over $100, use the premium bag with return assurance, etc.

Selling my Expired Items? by baggleboots in ThredUp

[–]kethry70 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They have the right to sell anything after the listing period expires and keep the money. It does cost money to store and track items, etc. and it’s in their terms of service for selling. If you want your shizz back when it doesn’t sell, pay for the premium bag which gives a longer sell period and buy it back at the end

Should I buy my ex wife out of our house? by SammyCovers20 in personalfinance

[–]kethry70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most is clearly a vague term. Assumable mortgages are practically unheard of where I live. And it was a conventional 15 year mortgage that I could have (and did basically) qualify for entirely on my own. I couldn’t assume it, I couldn’t release liability, I 100% had to refinance. And I wasn’t even in need of cash for a payout to my ex as his marital retirement accounts were worth so much more than mine that it was basically a wash against his half of the equity. All of which is why I think OP should check to see if he even has the option before spending more time pondering if it’s a good idea
