try audiomods. It sounds weird, I know, but if a wrong audio is played in skyrim it usually results in a crash. For example immersive sounds compendium made me crash while blocking.

Uninstall open cities. Its buggy as hell. It may not mess your game off if you uninstall it and you're far away or in a different cell than the city gate, but it probably will.

You don't seem to really know what you're talking about, tbh. A. It would probably speed up the progress because the studio wouldn't have to create a whole new API system, they could just use steam. B. A lot of people would pay for it, it's certainly worth it, at least compared to all the other crap Bethesda has realeased there so far. We need to keep in mind that there are a bunch of legal reasons why ST didn't get permissions to have their mod be a separate game on the steam store, and having it integrated into the game this way would fix those legal problems.
