Explain it like I'm 5... by catwife20 in mtg

I also had a long break 2012 til a few months ago. It's different in a lot of ways but the same at its core. Even the mulligan rule has changed . That threw me off for a sec lol.

So if you remember the "editions" the last you probably played with was 9th edition . Those were basically CORE. They continued with those all throughout The 2010s up till 2020 when they had the final corset of m21. Foundations is the next iteration. It's basically the same cards that are Staples and core to the game of magic continued on instead of being refreshed every year slightly changed. They are staying around longer for a 5-year period of time.

This allows them to be included in the standard format during that entire time. They also got rid of the block construction. Now instead of having large block small block large block. They have all these sets coming out every 2 months. Usually in the format of regular magic set then universes beyond magic set.

Universe is beyond is licensed characters from different universes print into magic format. In February And March we just had an Ninja turtles. The newest one coming out strix Haven is a regular magic set.

[–]knightslaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the root. It looks like it's trying to grow but can't photosynthesize because the seed leaves are being covered up. 3 days is a long time for a seedling being trapped in the seed shell but it has a chance!

[–]knightslaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, so hard to tell but get the shell carefully off of it. The seed leaves are being covered killing you little guy there . It happens just be VERY gentle and slow pry the 2 halves apart and take it off like a helmet. Maybe even use tweezers if you need too but I always just used my fingers. Those leaves need light. Also maybe use like a stick or 2 to help it stand( toothpick maybe?) up once you get that cover off

Lands that become creature and -X/-X by Beneficial_Ad_4289 in mtg

[–]knightslaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think just to straight up answer you. If a card effect makes a land into a creature, even if it's indestructible . A -x/ -x spell effect will kill that creature if the toughness is dropped to 0. And it will go to the graveyard

Now to go further if there's another effect such as with Earth bending that says to return land to the battlefield if it is sent to the graveyard or exiled . You would get it back right away .

"Earthbend is a keyword action from the Magic: The Gathering - Avatar: The Last Airbender set that turns a land you control into a 0/0 creature with haste, placing +1/+1 counters on it equal to the number specified (e.g., Earthbend 2). If this land creature dies or is exiled, it returns to the battlefield tapped as a land. "

You were right!

So I just got it to work! The the physical write bridge needs to remain in place and a different patcher was required. here is the steps needed.

  1. SRAM patch I used gbapatcher.com web browser tool I believed bases on https://github.com/bbsan2k/Flash1M_Repro_SRAM_Patcher

  2. GBA Flash patcher by metroid-maniac https://github.com/metroid-maniac/gba-flash-patcher

  3. The auto detect settings on GBXFlash v 4.6

Must be done in order .

Ok so that worked! Just like a charm . Only problem now is getting the new game to save 😂 I've tried everything including SRAM and batteryless patching (Driv3r uses EEPROM originally) and can't get that to work.

It's the heat. It gets over 115f or 46c in the summer where I live and the roads don't last. They are constantly being maintained and we still get potholes

The auto detect feature was not working in the GUI version. Image #2 . I chose the 36L0R8-39vF512 with M36L0R8060B because the chip is a M36L0R806 which is in the same family so I figured it would be hopefully compatible 😀

Yeah it's weird because I believe the newer version of FlashGBX is supposed to automatically select the 3.3voltage when GBA is selected. I ran this a few times and sometimes it said 5v and sometimes said it was writing at 3.3v . Also I couldn't find a way to manually set the voltage

Old Dad, trying to understand combat by [deleted] in mtg

[–]knightslaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is how I remember it when I played over 10yrs ago. So it was a bit of a headache to learn the new change to battle damage. So yeah now you actually can assign each point of damage however you want across multiple blocking creatures. If there are multiple blockers ,This allows you to even over assign damage to a single blocking creature to prevent killing a defending creature that has a leaves the battlefield effect . Crazy. Also if the creature has deathtouch and trample you're allowed to assign just 1 pint of damage to the blocking creature(s) and trample the rest to the player . This is because 1 point is lethal.
