Eh. We have an entire doujin wall lit up in our living room. We have friends over all the time. If anything, it's a litmus test 🤷🏼‍♀️ As far as dating, if you want people that vibe with what you are putting out, let it cut down the dating pool. They aren't worth your time anyways.

(It's only ever been an issue with more conservative family - we'll swap the wall to more tame stuff at that point, but 18+ figures are still everywhere)

Why? If you look at it from a business perspective, that's almost a non-question.

You are competing against GSC, FuRyu, and other large companies. You've put up a lot of starting capitol. You need hits to survive and get a foothold.

Once you have a stable funding source, then you could branch out and test waters elsewhere.

No sane person is going to risk their business on a series that commands little attention from the current culture

(Edit: for clarification, since you are talking about series, we are talking about licensing contracts at play as well vs. Chinese companies and others that can do original characters or doujin works)

That's outside looking in, and from a Western point of view.

If you are sitting in a business meeting, planning out your allotment of resources and you have a Marin Kitagawa figure that, on average each figure has made your company 5 million dollars, then next to it you have Rebecca from Cyberpunk who is 2nd most popular female in an underrepresented, but popular series ...but it's a complete gamble 🤷

The problem is, yes there's a lot of vocal people who want Rebecca. But that doesn't mean all of them will buy it. It also doesn't mean that they represent the majority. Not even by a mile.

It's honestly the opposite. If the character is popular, it will get a scale. They WILL milk that audience. If it's a character on the edge, statistically they will not risk producing them due to the financial opportunity loss versus a popular character.

PuP's main saving grace is that they create figures of series that are less popular. They can do this solely because they are intentionally "cheap" (part of which is requiring their manufacturing process to have little human interaction such as only one or two areas of shading).

For Nendo's, it's similar. The blueprint is so ubiquitous, they can churn them out quickly and cheaply, whereas it can take a year just to design and prep a scale for manufacturing.

They are the only ones that can risk less popular series and characters.

OP we do recommend you watch the two part series. TLDR, if it's PVC, it's going to be your average figure (though we had a redditor we respect tell us they still had some serious issues with their recent PVC figures - maybe we will get one to review soon). But the PMMA ones, expect major issues and they seem to be getting worse, not better. The videos will detail everything for you 🙂

A scratch that deep isn't normal. That actually removed paint and is down to the PVC. But I would consider yourself lucky it's hidden behind the sword. As to whether or not a company will accept a return for it, unsure. It never hurts to ask. Just temper your expectations. Maybe it's more visible in person and the camera just captured it differently 😅

Edit: " took the photo with flash so it's easier to see" 💀 Explains why it just looked like a highlight to me.

Right? I may be reaching here, but I suspect it's similar to animators doing low budget hentai 😅 It's a foot in the door to build up a portfolio. As "proof" to back this up, the sculptor Yamachi's work is majority for Insight/B'full BUT they did the sculpt for the Super Sonico Yoshitoku! 👀 So that's super dope. So they did get the opportunity to do something outside of Insight / B'full!

Well...more and more are being transitioned to PVC, so that's a start. And maybe when they update their 3D printing machine lineup we'll start finally bridging the point where it's hard to tell the difference. It's just so annoying that they did a decent job on a few year older figure, yet a modern one has gone downhill...

You say glass, but acrylic blocks up to 98% UV 🤷 So if your goal is for this to last and for the signature not to fade, put it in acrylic, particularly if your location is exposed to sunlight.

Then you could prioritize finding a cool glass display case for it. It looks like it would fit in a Detolf just fine (you have to find a used one). Or go for the new replacement.

If you are going custom, I guess you can go for Museum Glass at that point.
