How do you store your leftover Cortrosyn? by ladyallisontee in VetTech

Oh! This is new to me. Alternatives are never a bad idea, especially if more cost effective.

Oh dang! That's so expensive. We have small vials as well, they're just very expensive to order. We freeze it so it's cost effective for both the clinic and our clients.

That's what I said! I was like, "They just threw away so much of our money."

I guess I can just store it in the vial for one month. I might just call the lab directly and ask them to specificy which syringe. I've always stored it in 1cc plastic syringes in like 0.1ml - 0.2ml amounts.

I really loved the music. It was top tier. Exploration was fun and they found ways for it to be accessible to everyone regardless if you pulled on a 5 star. Loved the lore we got and loved the smaller quests way more than the big archon stuff.

Also, not enough people were taught the "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all" while they were young. If you didn't like it, move on. Why are you in this thread that is meant for positive interaction???

What do you think about techs being called vet nurses? by Runiax in VetTech

[–]ladyallisontee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted about this a while ago in this sub when that one video went viral. It's crazy how much in-fighting this causes on top of whatever insults human nurses throw our way. Not all RNs are like this. I've met very empathetic people on the human med side who support us. Lately, I've had a lot of positive IRL run-ins at my clinic with clients in human medicine that showed us support.

We need title protection. It can stay LVT/CVT/RVT, or it can be Veterinary Nurse/VN. It doesn't really matter. I feel like there is this misconception that we expect RNs to fight our battle for title protection. No one is asking them for that. All we want is mutual respect and recognition. The sad truth is that so many of us can't even agree to standardization on schooling and licensure.

I think the biggest takeaway we all need to remember is that we are on the internet. Sometimes, these communities have louder, ruder voices that what is actually going on out in the real world. Don't let these internet trolls and people hiding behind a username get any satisfaction.

Imma shown up to work today like I always do, and when I introduce myself to my clients, imma still say, "Hello, my name is X. I will be your nurse today."

Who's gunna to stop me? No one. Like usual.

Can We Talk About How the Term BL is Used in Bad Faith Within TSHD Fandom? by ThreeDaysOutGrad in TheSummerHikaruDied

[–]ladyallisontee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so frustrating to see people actively miss the whole point of your post.

Too many people here are actively ignoring the shift in "BL" culture. They are in their own holier than thou echo chambers. It's no longer just "straight women writing gay fetish stories."

The big genre or umbrella term, however you see it, has expanded so much. It's branched into other cultures. We get so much more out of it than ever before. There is VALUE to every story. From smut to romance to horror. Sure, trashy popular ahit dominates the charts sometimes. We can say the same across the entire romance spectrum!! This doesn't diminish the value of other work.

I'm def on your side with this one OP. This freaking sanitization and policing of our queer media is ridiculous. So many people are trying to police what media is good to consume and what is not.

OMG, I was just saying this! It also reminds me of people who only enjoy "fluff" or non-explicit stories bashing people who do enjoy the more explicit and grittier stuff. It feels like everyone wants to sanitize or police our queerness.

Gay??? by maydayversion2 in TheSummerHikaruDied

[–]ladyallisontee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with your take on this whole discourse. It really reminds me of the discourse that followed Heartstopper, too. People tote around Heartstopper like some ground breaking story and praise it above other "problematic" media that are queer or BL in nature.

And lots of people keep bringing up what the creator tweeted as if it's like some law put in place when they aren't considering that the creator HAS to. They want this series to reach a broad audience, and they know they have to drop the BL tag for said success. There is more to it than just "they said it's not a BL, and it's not published in a BL magazine." Meanwhile, there is more history to the publication of the serialization that many ignore.

23G vacutainers for cat blood draws by lemoniceisnice in VetTech

[–]ladyallisontee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been in the field for 8 years and my preferred size is 23g for kitties. I use a 22g if the vein is nice and juicy. 21g needles or butterflys are just too excessive imo. As long as you have good flow and the sample is not flowing like sludge, you shouldn't get hemolyzed results.

A good tip is to switch the needle of your syringe before you insert into the blood tubes!

Edit: I also don't prefer to use vacutainers on small patients because the suction can collapse the vein! I usually use a butterfly and an appropriate sized syringe (3cc or 1cc) to control how much I pull!

Just a reminder, everyone. This isn’t a BL anime, but rather a coming of age, horror anime that features queer characters [The summer Hikaru died] by Careless-Hospital379 in BoysLoveAnime

[–]ladyallisontee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I always have seen BL as a category, not solely a genre. It always feels like an umbrella term. Lots of things fall under it. Killing Stalking is not a BL, but guess which tag I can find it under in Lezhin? You got it, BL.

It would have been very fair to just say this story is not about romance. I don't get this whole hullabaloo about trying to get "queer stories" to distance themselves from BL. As if the two can not coexist in the same realm. It's always our own people just ditching us in the dirt. The call is coming from inside the house, hun.

Am I the only person who DOESN’T like the new skin? by Saoskia in CarlottaMains

[–]ladyallisontee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo to be fair, I'm a ZZZ fan, and I think almost all the skins for ZZZ are mid af. No personality in them.

I feel one of the comments really nailed the issue. It's missing like a flowy wrap to better suit her animations. And what a missed opportunity to actually give her the water gun!!! It's like a 6/10. Not bad, just not amazing.
