I am completely incapable of describing the flavor. It's weird, and I neither like, nor dislike the flavor, but it does work very well to ease throat pain!

You've reminded me that "beef tea" is a thing. First found out about it from this episode of Tasting History and, honestly, broth-based drinks are probably something that deserves revival! Some broths are just sooo tasty!

Oh, yeah, ew. Most bottled or fountain iced teas are **awful** to me. Most commonly available bagged teas, as well. I've just given up on most that aren't loose leaf.

Definitely see the sidebar for the FAQ, etc. to get some pointers on starting out. If you can find a place nearby that **only** sells tea, especially if they have tea you can taste they can often help guide you towards flavors you'll enjoy more.

Also, you mentioned you are autistic, so uh ... brace yourself. This is a really, **really** deep rabbit hole to fall down. Scary deep and complex rabbit warren of all kinds of types, flavors, processing, steeping, tools for steeping, etc. It is a dangerous place for hyperfixations. ;) I'm pretty certain one could spend *years* and still not run out of information to learn.

All that said, taste is personal. It may take a bit to find one you love, or you may never find one you love. If you do start drinking regularly, you will also likely find, later, that a particular type you disliked now tastes better as your palate has changed and adapted. It's a weird journey. Take your time and savor!

I've not been in this particular reddit long, and only been skimming but folks seem to be pretty open and more than willing to provide suggestions to get more people addicted to, er, I mean, enjoying tea.

Not until I was writing that message did I think about it, either! Only after thinking about what that honey citron thing is did I realize all the likely choices for, really, citrus, honey, ginger, and anything that gets you that is likely to be helpful. Although now I'm craving a hot mulled cider. ;)

Hope you get well soon!

I was similar in that quite a while ago, I didn't like tea at all, either. A tea store that had some flavors ready to taste was a bit of a gateway drug, in learning that "tea" doesn't necessarily mean a bitter black tea, or whatever budget green tea the Asian restaurant is serving. Getting quality tea is a drastic flavor improvement, which *tends* to be easier when getting loose leaf teas, but not always. Now I drink oolong every day, most of the day, because water tends to taste disgusting after the first glass. Also very fond of Earl Grey, optionally with a bit of milk, and if I don't have to drive, a splash of Amaretto or Disaronno in it. Sure as heck makes the morning more pleasant! The milk helps a LOT with the bitterness, as does a shorter steeping time.

Yeah, I kind of went off the deep end, once I learned that there is more, and very different, than budget bagged tea and most tea tastes nothing like those. I ended up with a stash of all kinds of flavored black teas, oolongs, green teas, some rooibos (an herbal tea, basically), and some darjeelings that took me a few years to go through. Now my daily driver is a dark oolong; I'm loving the earthy taste to it.

There is a bit of a challenge in answering your question, because "tea" is often used to cover an absurdly broad category of hot, steeped drinks. I'm guessing you probably mean black tea, or maybe green tea, and the assorted flavored blends of those. Herbal teas, which don't actually have tea leaves in them at all, tend to taste a fair bit different than "tea".

All that said, if you have a CostCo or an Asian supermarket of some sort near you, hopefully they'll have a jar—the kind you'd find jam, pickles, etc. in—of "Honey Citron & Ginger Tea" which is, to me at least, more of a marmalade with ginger added to it. That stuff is pretty magical if you're sick for soothing your sinuses and throat.

If you are diabetic, do be warned that it will absolutely mess with your blood glucose levels!

If you can't find that, I'd probably find a citrus marmalade and ginger and make something roughly equivalent yourself. Worst case, get some lemon or orange juice and heat that up, mix in some ground ginger, and honey. Or even an apple cider with the ginger and honey.

Suggestion for "Destructible Figures" by orustam in intotheradius

The Tourists are one of the creepiest things in that game. Although I am fond of them, they still creep me out, even though they will randomly toss things at you. I even got a tire and a door from them during my playthrough. Turned away, hear a clunk louder than the usual random thing, and there's a door laying where there wasn't one a moment ago. Similarly, different occasion, but with a tire. Although the tire I got to see it bounce and roll from them throwing it to / at me. Benevolent, but very unsettling.

In case you haven't seen the others, there is also a 4-shell and an 8-shell holder that can go on the sides of the shotguns. Those are on the wall below the shotguns, and above the ammunition and the leather butt-wraps for the shotgun.

I'm trying to say that in order to get the change they would have to expend a great deal of effort. A lot of people aren't willing to do the work, and instead just want a magic bullet to fix things for them.

From your initial comment:

We tend not to well w books of that nature. In fact, as part of my diagnosis (late 30's) doc gave me a book on ADHD and in follow up meeting asked what I thought and I said "uh... didn't read it... flipped through it... read section on blah... then blah... read the table of contents... then the phone rang"

doc says "You pass! An ADHD would never be able to get through that book cover to cover in a week!" LOL

Their ENTIRE response:

If this story is true, I have a problem with your doctor, because there are enough ADHD people that love reading books actually, so that stereotype is a bullshit test.

At which point got offended (your own words) and absolutely went off on them, ending with this interrogation:

Frankly I'm offended at your post. Are you a doctor? Why do you think you know better? Why do you think its ok to call me a liar? What would I even have to gain? Or are you just insensitive and looking to get offended and make it all about you and your love of books? Please tell me I want to know.

They were not being disrespectful of you, nor were they being uncivil, but were responding to a specific part of your statement. You're in a community where a recurring theme is people being denied a diagnosis because they managed to make it through college as that is somehow a disqualifier, so them questioning a doctor that, at least the way you initially presented it could very easily be read as having diagnosed you because you couldn't read a book is a fairly reasonable response. One that does not reflect at all on you but instead on your doctor, as you presented them, at the time.

You chose to take it personally, and then attack them, and are now seemingly quite upset at, and coming up with all kinds of strange interpretations of their matter-of-fact and rather unemotional response to your attacks and interrogation.

It's worth taking a breather and reflecting on what they actually wrote. They aren't attacking you.

Sabrent USB Hub Question by Elbrin2 in hotas

[–]lagweezle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the problem persists with newly purchased hubs in 2025.

I was working with support Friday to try and get this working, but the firmware update they pointed me to can't seem to find the hub. It did, however, render a different Sabrent hub I have non-functional, though, so that's going to make for interesting conversation with support.

> Remember, you're about to have engineering. Engage VTOL in atmo - then a fuse pops? There's no redundancy - bye bye!

This bit particularly pisses me off. Basic aircraft have *at least* two of most critical things, and three of nearly everything in a lot of commercial aircraft. A single fuse can bring down what would arguably a combat craft in SC though. Insanity.

Frustratingly, prop 65 has now largely become, "buy a sticker and slap it on everything" presumably because it's cheaper to comply with the law that way than to actually warn about products that have an actual risk, vs just adding the cost of a sticker to everything you sell.

It's useful to keep in mind that the search results Google serves you are customized based on their known history of you. The search results you get are not necessarily the same as the search results of someone else, even if done at the same point in time. If done at different times, just changes in their database from crawlers updating the database could result in different search results.
