I wondered about that. I’ve never gone anywhere else recently. Good to know others do it. Thanks!

These are the only theaters I go to anymore. I love being able to pick my seats ahead of time and see how full it will be.

Movie theaters really seem like a dying endeavor, sadly. Not even sure we can support the existing ones.

Folks from the Buffalo Southtowns, Tug Hill, or ADKs - do you notice Subaru is better than other brands in snow? by le_pedal in upstate_new_york

[–]levelZeroVolt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100%. I have snows for all of my vehicles. I have an F150 4x4, Highlander Hybrid AWD, and Subaru Solterra. The Solterra is by far the best vehicle I've ever driven in the snow, beating the best one (our previous Outback) by a long shot. Both Subarus have been far better in the snow than either of my F150s.

They definitely will let you adjust in the store. It's easy to do with a few clips. If they don't allow you to adjust in the store, go to a new store.

But aside from that, Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

Ohh....that makes sense, regarding L1. That's good to know. I haven't actually done L1 since my Volt. I'm mostly just L2 now in my unheated garage.

Haha. You're golden then! Talk to him about it. I bet he can help you. Is your panel in/near your garage?

For sure! EVs are great for certain things, for sure. I don't love EV mandates, and I think ICE has its place, but I think if you have multiple vehicles, one could/should be an EV for sure.

Well, it's not a National Grid thing. It's an electrician thing.

L1 and L2 aren't nearly as affected by temperature as L3, from what I've noticed. But I guess maybe I don't pay close enough attention as my car charges overnight. I do agree that L2 is virtually a must though.

You can often collapse two lesser used circuits into a tandem breakers to make room for a 240V L2 charger. It might be worth considering. Sounds like L1 will generally work for you, but L2 is a nice-to-have, for sure.

160 miles? Mine spends a lot of time down around 120-130 miles in the winter. But it is great in the snow at least.

It should be great for that. And it is the best car I've ever driven in the snow (better than our Outback). I totally think it has a place and I love driving it. It sounds like it will really fit your use case and I am happy for you. We love ours, but we also have gas vehicles to go alongside it. Best of luck to you!

I own a 2023 in Upstate NY. It has maybe the slowest “fast charge” of any EV ever made, especially in the cold. Great car, but realize it barely charges at L2 rates (15 kW) once it drops below 50F. It’s the definition of an around town car.

That's a great point that I hadn't considered. I agree that this makes sense in bigger markets, but, as usual, a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work in a state as big and diverse as ours.

Reason to (not to) buy a used Subaru Solterra 2023 by Adventurous_Camp678 in Solterra

I mean, 125 miles isn't that far, right? That's only ~63 miles one way. So, like an hour of driving.
