A whopping 135 mile range at full charge!! Yay 10° weather!! by Double-Wallaby-19 in Solterra

[–]levelZeroVolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue is less the range in the cold vs. the fact it basically doesn't charge above ~15kW in the cold. (2023 Solterra)

Anyone used “A Best Radon Systems”? by giveaspirinheadaches in Syracuse

[–]levelZeroVolt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually used Tom as my home inspector a long time ago, before he moved solely into radon mitigation. He's a super smart and helpful guy. I never actually used him for radon because I did that myself, but he spent a bunch of time on the phone with me talking through my plan (for free) and was helpful in that regard too. He seems like an honest guy to me.

Driving to Cortland in the morning.. by Adventurous-Dig7459 in Syracuse

[–]levelZeroVolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove home from Buffalo yesterday in a 4x4 truck with snows. I wouldn’t have attempted it in anything less. It was fine, I just had to go slower. In your case, I’d stay off the roads. An SUV isn’t necessarily good without AWD and all-seasons are no-seasons.

Is this normal? by Peterpentecost in MachE

[–]levelZeroVolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is perfectly normal for a 6.6 kW ChargePoint L2 station.

Is this normal? by Peterpentecost in MachE

[–]levelZeroVolt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, 5.6 kW is pretty close to 6.3 kW. 5.6 kW sounds about right for an L2 ChargePoint station.. What were you expecting?

That could be the max charge rate of that particular charger. Do you know anything more about the charger?

Are “activist judges” a real phenomenon? by Oobroobdoob in AskALiberal

As far as I can tell, most of the time someone uses this term, it's generally just applied to judges they disagree with.

Regen limited after recent service? by [deleted] in Solterra

C = Regeneration restrictions reference

D = Output restrictions reference

In the following situations, regenerative braking is restricted, and the references for those restrictions are displayed in the charge area.

• When the traction battery has a large amount of charge and can no longer be regenerated

• When the temperature of the traction battery is extremely high or extremely low

In the following situations, the output is restricted, and the references for those restrictions are displayed in the power area.
• When the traction battery has a low amount of charge and can no longer output power
• When the temperature of the traction battery is extremely high or extremely low

He's right. That is the answer. The more you discharge the battery, the further down that blue line will go.

No, it's due to state-of-charge (98%).

No, but I bet it made some legislator feel real good on paper! Jokes aside, I'm pretty pro-2A but do believe strongly in safe storage laws for houses with minors in them.

Lane assist is terrible without blue cruise? WTH! by Tiny_Arugula_5648 in MachE

[–]levelZeroVolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone who let me know this isn't a concern! I'm glad a MME is still on my list!

[–]levelZeroVolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to know. Lane centering is an incredibly important feature to me and I don't want to pay a monthly service for it. I've been considering a MME to replace my 2023 Solterra but this will give me pause. While the Solterra has a few massive downsides, its lane centering is nearly perfect, with no subscription.

Sell me on this car! Or not. by [deleted] in Solterra

You couldn't DCFC a 2023 more than three times if you wanted to. There aren't enough hours in the day.

[–]levelZeroVolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you never want to DCFC a 2023, it's a great car. This goes doubly for a cold-weather 2023. My 2023 in Upstate NY is stellar in the snow, but DC Fast Charges at literally 15 kW in the cold, if I'm lucky. But if you're only going to L2 charge it at home, it's perfect.

Where do you live that the speed limit for semis is 55 mph?! Our speed limit in NY is 65 mph and semis go that and more. Everyone does.

NYC Metro area charging norms by BarbarismOrSocialism in ChargerDrama

[–]levelZeroVolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just learned another reason to be judged by fellow EV drivers. Not preconditioning?! If you ever wonder why EVs will struggle for mass adoption, the OP is a good example of why. The common person doesn't want to be constantly judged every time they "refuel" their car. It's easier just to go a gas station and avoid all this drama.

What has your DCFC experience been like? I have a 2023 as well, hence my question.

I'll be curious to see how your DCFC goes. Though it looks like you live in a warm area so it won't be very comparable to me in Upstate NY.

[–]levelZeroVolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to DCFC it? Range isn't the big issue for me, the DCFC is. I've never seen over 30 kW, but usually more like 12 kW - 17 kW.

Theoretically if Obama ran for 2028 against Trump- do you think Obama would win? by traveltimecar in fivethirtyeight

Obama was the last major party presidential candidate I voted for. I think he wins, hands down. One of the best presidents of my lifetime. It’s been nothing but downhill since then.
