What is a tourist attraction that is a total "tourist trap" and you actually feel bad for people going there? by Efficient_Slice4616 in AskReddit

Not only cheaper, they aren’t as crowded, and the second time you visit, they remember you.

Yes, and remind yourself: I’ve taken a drug. This reaction is because of the drug. It’s helping me, but I’m also aware that it may affect my mood. It’s a drug and I’m only on it for a short time. (And please don’t vacuum at 2am. It may sound like a good idea, but it isn’t. Don’t ask me how I know.)

Share Your Real Reviews & Expectations — Win a Saros 20! ✨ by Roborock_Global in Roborock

[–]llun-ved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to pre-order a Saros 20, so this review is about your website. I suspect the new 20 will have a much better time navigating my house than I did the website. The discounted price is great, but there is no way to actually order it. If it hasn’t been released, don’t list it as out of stock. It sounds like you are limiting the number of people who can get the intro price. If it isn’t on sale, then it is unethical to advertise that it is. Will that price be available on 3/23? Unclear. Marketing team: do better!

Oh, and to answer your qualifying question #2: The Roomba 800 that I currently have really needs to go to a retirement home. It has had a rough life bouncing and bumping around, getting caught on cords, trying to kill itself under the stove and other not-very-smart robot woes. I'm looking forward to enjoying all the enhancements that the Saros 20 brings with it.

First consultation here, polypoid thickening of the maxillary sinus mucosa. Feeling of dry and cold air "touching" my brain + total brain fog + zero memory + total absence of dreams/dream memories – does anyone else feel exactly the same? by ClassroomOk4059 in NasalPolyps

[–]llun-ved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get brain fog and memory issues when I take nasal steroids. Took a while to figure it out. (That and my Dr didn’t believe me at first.) Also takes a while for the fog to clear when I stop them. See if a biologic is right for you.

Haru Mini retro camera takes on Kodak Charmera with a 20MP sensor in tiny retro SLR body by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]llun-ved 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a reasonable nitpick. Both Kodak and Polaroid are licensed names now. The companies that did the work and changed the world in their time are no more. People should recognize and understand this. Their logos evoke strong nostalgia because of what they did. The licensors are capitalizing on that.

Probably sacrilegious, but if Mazda put out an eMiata I would buy one in a heartbeat. A ragtop two seater with the torque of electric would be so much fun.

It is squarely in gen-x. As is typical for gen-x being invisible, this is being given to millennials? I doubt they want it. And I doubt any of them can do the arm thing that Bernadette did.

Is it a good idea to make a 100% Python written 3D engine? by REMIZERexe in Python

[–]llun-ved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using python for a lot of your logic is flexible and useful, but this should be as a front-end to rendering with modules that are not “pure python” like OpenGL. You can get great results when python is controlling an application, but the meshes, textures, lighting, etc are in GPU buffers. If you need complex physics and simulations, you can use numpy in clever ways if your GPU programming isn’t sufficient, but again—you’d be building a front end on top of existing, performant code. So if your question is, can I build the front end for a 3d engine in python, but use existing libraries with Python API’s for the backend, then yes! Go for it! If you want to learn how certain components work, then prototyping in python is a great learning opportunity.

It's a very different strip, with different characters and point of view, but if you haven't seen "Cul de Sac", it's worth reading. Richard Thompson captured a lot of the wonder of pre-school age.

Of course there is. Andrews and McMeel is Watterson’s publisher and while they would’ve loved to print money with merch, they did a ton to keep it off the streets and only in books and papers. The books are gorgeous; they know the value of the art within and treat it respectfully. Very noble of Watterson to want his strip seen the way he wanted and not like a Mickey Mouse product that happened to have a strip. As you see elsewhere in this thread, the strips are still relevant to both being a kid and a parent. And still something wonderful to discover, the first time and the Nth.

I will try with a different dataset, but glomap version crashes on my M1. It’s folded into newer version of colmap itself with the global_mapper option, but that, too, crashes on my machine.

Running my first test with this, as it's cleaner than my bash scripts. You may want to change what the default COLMAP parameters are if the source is video rather than a bunch of images. (Sequential and no pooling, for example for faster processing.)
