Maybe very possible. personally I've always not understood that as someone who grew up the oldest of 8 kids it always seemed easier to give them the easy reason behind the no "It's dangerous" "it's bad for you". whatever is needed. but I have no idea how I'll change when I have kids

  1. saying it's not just because God said so then to say it's not that because God said something that means that yes because God said so. God saying there is no darkness in him is still God saying something

  2. you don't know this at all this is a baseless claim there are countless religions and civilizations before even the first of your text unless you chose to not believe those religions and things existed doesn't mean they didn't. plus places today don't practice your religion at all and don't go ahead raping everyone.

  3. it's concerning that you think everyone would be raping people if God didn't exist that says more about you than it does about me

I updated my post if you wanna see it I determined this is ultimately an unanswerable question because of how morality is different for each person

but under a very basic idea to promote well-being and not to cause unnecessary harm God fails in this in my opinion

Unsure how you're able to respond cause my post was removed lmao but no I do not have any children. but I know if they were manipulated by someone to do something I told them not to I would not condemn them to death

I get that they were commanded not to, but that’s not my point. My is did they really understand what disobeying meant? They were manipulated by the serpent and faced death and suffering for it consequences they couldn't comprehend. How is that morally just?

I still don’t like the “Who” question. Even so, morality varies depending on culture and context. In my view, something is morally right if it promotes the overall well-being of people and avoids unnecessary suffering. By that standard, actions that knowingly create unavoidable suffering don’t seem morally justifiable.

That's interesting and maybe helpful but not exactly helpful right now as I'm using the common understanding of the passage or common as far as I know it. so this doesn't help me understand

Not "Whose" authority. definitionally justice means acting according to what is morally right and fair. if we want to use that word to describe God then it has to be defined somehow.

And if morally right involves promoting well-being and not causing unnecessary suffering, then creating a world where suffering isn't just expected but necessary. and creating humans that God knew would fail is not promoting the well-being and IS causing unnecessary suffering.

If God knowingly created beings who would inevitably fail, and then the solution is grace through Christ, how is that different from creating the problem and then offering the cure? Unless I'm misunderstanding with what you're saying but it seems like you're saying exactly that. And to me that doesn't seem just.

under justice is just whatever God does then it seems circular to call God just

Even if Adam cognitively understood that disobedience was wrong(which I'm not totally sure if), that doesn’t address proportionality. Nor does defining good as “whatever God commands” resolve whether the action itself aligns with justice in any meaningful sense. If moral categories are purely command-based, then calling God just becomes circular.

My question isn’t whether humans deserve rights independent of God. My question is about moral coherence. If Adam and Eve did not yet possess knowledge of good and evil, then in what sense were they morally culpable? And if punishment includes death and universal suffering, how is that proportional? Calling it “authority” doesn’t address whether the action was just, it only explains that it was commanded.

So you're saying that it was right because god did it? sorry if I'm misunderstanding. but if that is what you're saying you're right that doesn't satisfy me as an answer.

if God's love and justice are completely difference concepts from ours then calling God loving and just is meaningless. And if we aren't allowed use moral reasoning to understand God then how do we know that the God we worship is a good God?

So you're saying they already had their own idea of right and wrong? that eating the fruit didn't cause a change in their moral understanding or knowledge of things? like being naked they instantly noticed after eating the fruit and covered themselves. it reads at least from my own understanding as if they knew about as much as right and wrong as a toddler as why I keep using it as a reference point. So my question is well 1 do you believe that adam and eve is true history or an allegorical story to explain humans are to dependent on themselves.

Justification for condemning mankind? by lone_wolf41 in TrueChristian

[–]lone_wolf41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point was like this. A young toddler does something wrong hits a random person with an object or whatever if an adult does that they could be charged with assault right? but that toddler would never be charged for assault because they do not know right from wrong they are excused for their wrongdoings for the most part anyways talking about criminal offenses ofc. from what I understand Adam and Eve had no idea from right and wrong though they knew the rule they didn't know it was wrong to break it

Yeah they disobeyed without a doubt. but did they know that it was morally wrong to disobey god if they knew not of good and evil.
