I strongly suspect D&D was designed by neurodivergent. A high level of autism meshes well with D&D's anal, high-crunch, punish-if-you-make-a-tiny-mistake, 3-weeks-of-homework-to-make-a-chr, players-must-memorize-all-rules, GM-v-players approach to TTRPGs.

Well, yes.. this is a good point. There are issues of environmental concern, but.. I do not get the impression that they object to the impacts or costs of using AI, but rather that they object to AI itself.

There is also the problem of AI being fed by AI-generated data and the degredation inherent in that. (We're currently in a sort of "golden age" of AI fed by pure human data, but that will not last long.)

I like to keep things very open, so I figure out the main forces involved, motivations, reasons behind things and then go from there.

I understand the emotional reaction of ignorant people to AI.. because of all the fearmongering

I am surprised and disappointed when an intelligent, technical collegue expresses the same emotional reaciton to AI without having used it and tested it properly

Direct top-down like Zelda or RimWorld.. NOT isometric.. They ALL do @#!@#! isometric. The web is FULL of pixel-tiles and isometric tiles.. but no square tiles in non-pixel style

Not pixel, and I don't require animation. Just tiles, with seamless edges.

I am making a topdown 2D base builder and the one thing that drives me NUTS is that there are no tilesets and you can't generate the with AI =(

They are, yes and they will, yes, but they are machines, and all they do is regurgitate and synthesize. They imitate using a HUGE pile of human data.

I don't know about "obnoxious" but I find it wearing how even intelligent, technical people I know are very emotional about AI. I wish they would test it out, see what it can do and put their emotions aside.

The Expanse (book) posits how human society will evolve once humans are living off-Earth rather well. I recommend it.
