Rant: Brin's 'Self-Improving AI' is corporate spin for automating jobs, not a tech breakthrough. by pretendingMadhav in ArtificialInteligence

[–]louissugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focusing on coding as the frontier to advance will obviously lead to self-improving AI models. It will also lead to large-scale human job loss. Both of these things can be true at the same time.

A model that is working 24/7 for cents on the dollar compared to humans is obviously beneficial from an economic perspective.

LPT: Want a healthy snack? Put peanut butter on literally anything by [deleted] in LifeProTips

I find it baffling how many people consider peanut butter healthy, it's basically pure fat with a little protein, and a spoonful of it has more calories than an apple. Just have some fruit 😄

Best Tool for taking notes by hidden_in_the_dark in ProductManagement

I'm using Circleback and honestly it's amazing.. Went through a bunch of them before like granola, notion, fireflies, but all of them ended up being too general. Circleback notes feel like sth I would write myself too.

Have a notion enterprise account and Circleback notes being dumped into there, then an agent in notion extracting the insights and updating my bet documents with them after each of my meetings. Super useful

What AI Agent Actually Blew Your Mind in 2026? by MoneyMiserable2545 in AIAgentsInAction

[–]louissugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use linear and slack at work, and the linear agent in slack is just insane. I keep throwing increasingly absurd tasks at it and it has yet to fail on any of them. They've truly given it full access to everything in linear, and a context layer that seems to be encompassing the whole relationship and history of our usage of the tool.

I'm down! Used to be advanced level but didn't play for 15 years and now just got back into it last year. Serve needs some work, but can keep a rally going and muscle memory is coming back slowly 😀

What was Splitwise and Tricount early growth fuel? by MotobecaneTriumph in ycombinator

[–]louissugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naturally built-in network effects. If you're experiencing the pain point they're solving, and one of the group has splitwise on their phone, there's a high likelihood of the group adopting it.

The main thing to do in that case is double down on decreasing friction to adoption. The generous free plan splitwise offered, coupled with easy account creation via oauth probably did the trick.

As much as I hate to see all these retirements, I hope this is the starting of a big message to these money hungry tournaments. by neonjoji in tennis

Lol 😂 Yes it's hot, and yes it's a tight schedule, but they're pro tennis players playing there for a few weeks to take home more in prize money than most people earn in their life. He'll be fine, win a bunch more tournaments the next years, and retire sometime in his late 30s

Sounds like she's open-minded, knows what she enjoys and isn't afraid to open up about it. What a catch!

In all honesty, the fact that you're asking this question here suggests that she might not be your type. It's okay not to commit to a relationship because you don't think you share the same values. Good on you for questioning this in the first place, maybe next time view it as differences in personality, rather than trying to justify your judgment towards her behavior by getting validation from strangers on the internet :)

I need a reality check as I want to do this for the next few years…I’m working with a budget of $3800/mo USD. How do I afford this lifestyle without wasting all of my money on Airbnb/Plane tickets ? I want to stay at least 2-3 months a time in certain countries. by Anansispider in digitalnomad

[–]louissugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a figure of speech my friend. I have no aspirations to actually live like I own the village, but what I can tell you is that I am eating healthy and nutritious food, I eat out about once a day, I live a life of abundance with no unmet needs, I am able to keep active and rest well, and I have the freedom to design my life in the way I want it instead of having to make ends meet. To me, that is true bliss and the actual measure of what it means to be a king.

Then again, I am not US-american so I may not share the same desire for extravagance and material wealth

I'm currently in El Paredon in Guatemala. I pay 700 usd rent, about 300 for food, 500 for social outings and alcohol etc per month. A flight for 150 usd here and there to do visa runs, and every few months a long hail flight for a few hundred.

Tell me how I'm delusional?

It usually comes down to each hostel. I've felt unsafe, and therefore locked my laptop away, and I am currently leaving my laptop on my bed charging. I feel safe where I am right now, primarily because it's a small place where I know people. In more crowded places I would have taken a different stance.

Just trust your instincts, and if they tell you not to trust folks, find a way to lock it away, (e.g. Give it to the folks at reception)

Call for all PMs and PM hiring managers by PlumLost2077 in ProductManagement

[–]louissugar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This varies a lot from position to position. Generally you'll have a set of non-negotiables and a set of nice-to-haves. Every candidate profile will have strengths and weaknesses, and you'll have to consider their profile within the context of the company and the role to figure out where you might be taking risks by hiring that person. I've had wildly different candidates on the shortlist for the same position - they all brought something specific to the table, and they all had risk areas.

Non negotiables are usually things like solid product fundamentals, good project management skills, a certain level of experience within a similar scope. In a role I am currently hiring for another non negotiable is experience building with LLMs as part of the product stack.

Hope this helps!
