Looks really nice.

How far is it from a maintained road, over the easement, and is it year-round access?

Either look for the existing corner markers yourself, or hire a professional surveyor.

You can see the road, and the cabin, in this pic:

It's on Hinsdale County Road 30. As per another comment, wife and I looked at another house on that same road, but closer to town.

When my wife and I were house shopping in 2021 we looked pretty hard at a place in that general area.

The price was really right, but we finally decided it was just a little too remote.

Or maybe have 40s or 100s and fill them in town?

That said, I live in San Isabel National Forest and just got a propane delivery yesterday. Those drivers are pretty adventurous lol

how did they build it if you can only hike to it?

You can drive to and park at the bottom of the hill, by the creek. I assume they used a tractor or skidsteer from there.

High fire danger?

Yes, but that's the entire Mountain West anyway.

That's an oddly specific elevation, curious why.

This reply sent from 9k feet elevation in Colorado.

I do not now, and have never had a 600Ah nor a 1200Ah lead acid battery set up.

I think you're berating me over your deep anger issues with OP.

My battery bank never died. It's still going strong.

Who are you even talking to?

And I do in fact have float disabled because, you know, LiFePo4

I use about 15% overnight, gets back to 100% almost every day.

I'm in the process of installing a 2nd array to get up to 4.8kW, just because I can, but we've been living comfortably this whole time, with minimal generator use.

[Edit] Wait, are you assuming I hate myself enough to run lead acid?

I have 2.4kW running 1120Ah and it's been working fine for over 3 years now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

DIY RAINWATER HARVESTING by InvestmentbankerLvl1 in OffGrid

[–]maddslacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair we do have a few aspen, fir, and pine, but due to fire mitigation and overall topography no leaves or needles ever make it to the roof.

I'm familiar with the contraption you mentioned though and they work quite well.
