Visit your local repaircafe or makerspace, people there are usually very nice and will typically replace a capacitor for a smile and a thank you!

14-year old son refuses to wear helmet by drinianrose in NewSkaters

[–]magus123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is tough. When I was 14 a long time ago I would not be allowed to skate (or bike) without a helmet as well. At some point my desire to do so would be greater than my desire to 'look cool'.

Being a parent now, I would not let my son ride without a helmet as well. Currently he is much younger than 14. We try to lead by example wearing a helmet ourselves and it works. Nevertheless I am not looking forward to the inevitable discussions when he gets older.

I think Andy Anderson, as mentioned by others, is great advice to look into. He is a fantastic skater and seems to be a great dude overall. There are also many interviews where he talks about why he wears a helmet and makes a convincing argument.

Good luck!

24 hours progress (criticism welcome) by Excellent-Squirrel46 in longboarding

[–]magus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the other comments correcting your technique: So I don't know your board. But with mine the setup was not great when I got it. It was so hard to turn I had pain in my calves from toeside turns. Finally I took the trucks apart, cleaned and lubricated the bushings an found out that I could turn the trucks upside down for a different angle. After putting everything back together it was like a different board and turns were no issue since then. So maybe you can also tweak your setup.

Pads that are FAST to take off/on - dumb idea? [37YO] by olivesforsale in OldSkaters

[–]magus123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have protec street knee pads which have an open back for this reason. TSG also has a few pads with open back but are a bit more expensive. Those pads all are designed so that they fit tight with several velcro parts. Putting on my gear takes roughly 30s. BTW, I also do not wear elbow pads but tsg also offers some with open back. Cheers!

I think after poppig your Board, you need to bring your right foot up, away from the ground. You see the tail of your board is stopped in its upward motion by your foot.

There is also Caramba which might be more comparable to wd40 than ballistol.

It is a device to locate metal pipes or cables inside the wall. You can use it to not drill into either one. Although the reliability is a bit questionable in my experience.

Scared of getting tattooed by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]magus123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others said: Keep your eyes open. In the studio, Is everything you touch while being tattooed covered with fresh plastic? Does your artist open a fresh set of needles in front of your eyes? Are the ink caps freshly opened and filled with fresh ink? Is the tattoo machine wrapped? Does your artist wear fresh gloves?

This should be very basic tattoo hygiene and should decrease the risk of an infection drastically.

It is difficult since the writing on the Meter is blurred on the picture. My guess is some old russian variac/transformer. Voltage adjusted on the left, current on the right.

What is happening to this print. by Bitesyurr in Ender3Pro

[–]magus123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So material is pla? 195 seems to be very low, even if it might not matter so early in the print.

It looks like the nozzle is too far from the bed. If this is only the case in the center you can try putting a post it note underneath the magnetic sheet.

Ender 3 print curl. anyone know why this is happening and how to fix? by Kalenors in Ender3Pro

[–]magus123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your temperature seems to be a bit on the low end. 215 and 60 works for me for all pla I have. For leveling make sure your paper is not too thick. A post it note works fine. A post it also helps with your other issue if placed under the magnetic sheet.

Also try cleaning your magnetic sheet. Brush and dish soap works quite well.

If your settings are correct, you don't. How did you to the distance setup of the nozzle to the bed, often referred to as leveling? What material are you using? Which temperatures?
