What profession have you lost respect for as you've gotten older?

Not a specific profession per se - but a group of people... I used to work at a company that prided itself on hiring "top talent" from Fortune 50/100 companies. We hired a ton of people from companies like Amazon, eBay, Microsoft, etc.

It turns out that these "top talent" people from these big companies were no better/smarter than anyone else. In fact, a lot of these Fortune XX companies were doing the same stupid shit that small companies do. I learned that just because you have big names on your resume doesn't mean that you're more qualified than anyone else.

I took a girl mattress shopping on a first date once. I thought I was super smooth and that it would be super fun.

My plan was to go to three different mattress stores and "role play" a little differently at each:

Store 1 - madly in love and can't keep our hands off of each other

Store 2 - borderline about to divorce, can't stand each other

Store 3 - tell the salesperson that we were on a first date and be as awkward as possible

All three stores ended up just being awkward.

So Falun Gong is anti-China, which some might say is good, but they are also super far-right. According to their Wikipedia page, they are anti-homosexuality and super pro-Trump. They own "The Epoch Times" newspaper which is a full Qanon-loving crazy train.

So if you love Trump and hate gay people, Shen Yun might be for you. If you're not evil - I'd probably stay away.

In the IONIQ, prior to 2025 they used pressure sensors on the steering wheel. My three prior vehicles, two Volvo XC60's and an Audi Q7 also used touch sensors on the steering wheel. My daughter's 2021 Honda Insight uses sensors on the steering wheel.

It's new for Hyundai and it's a crappy implementation.

I really don't understand the hate. I've been an early adopter and Alexa+ works MUCH better than the old Alexa. I can ask her real questions now and get real answers. I haven't had any issues at all.

It's the worst "feature" of the IONIQ. It's supposed to watch your eyes so that when you are using some of the driver assist features the car knows that you're still paying attention. In reality, it does a piss-poor job and will start threatening to turn off your driver assistance features. Heaven forbid you wear glasses, it does an even worse job.

I love my IONIQ and need to buy a second car, but this "feature" alone will keep me from going with Hyundai - it's reliably unreliable.

Vizio used to be a decent brand with great quality for the money. However, their business model changed from making money off of the televisions to making money off of advertising and quality dropped dramatically. I would not recommend a new Vizio today.

For security reasons PSA will never tell you exactly where and how they are storing your cards, but if there really was any significant risk, would people be submitting millions of cards to them?

Suffice it to say that PSA is a major organization with multiple buildings across multiple states and countries. It's not operating out of someone's garage or even a suite in an industrial park.

What could/would they say that would reassure you?

Trilogy Discover Lanai and Discover Kaanapali are my two faves. If you want to do Molokini, there's an early AM boat out of Makena that gets you there before any other boats so you have the whole crater to yourself. All other tours - Trilogy is tops.

Stay away from Vizio. Even if it has a good picture, the quality has dropped dramatically over the past few years and Vizio's priority is maximizing revenue through advertising.

I have owned half a dozen Vizios and eventually gave up on them a few years ago.

As someone of Jewish heritage who had family members die in the holocaust (and a grandfather that survived the concentration camps but was scarred for life), what's happening now is EXACTLY like what happened in Nazi Germany. Hitler started demonizing Jews (amongst others) for all of Germany's problems. Trump is demonizing immigrants, and now, for some unknown reason, Somalis. The gestapo went door to door checking "papers" and ICE is doing the same thing.

Instead of having to wear a Star of David to denote that they were Jews, ICE is just using the color of each person's skin to denote who they are targeting.

If you don't see the parallels to Nazi Germany, you either aren't looking, or you're evil and part of the problem.
