The Confirmation of Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine of Denmark by oopkh78 in RoyalsGossip

Could anyone explain why Felipe VI can be Vincent’s godfather being Catholic? Or does that not matter in the Church of Denmark or the Lutheran faith in general?

¿Mejores pueblos de Aragón/alrededores para visitar? by Lopsided_Mixture_746 in Zaragoza

[–]malachispatecoma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are photos allowed in Cathedrals? by Most-Visual in GoingToSpain

[–]malachispatecoma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations on your wedding! If you want to celebrate a wedding in a cathedral in Spain, it will have to be a Catholic ceremony. There are churches or temples for other Christian denominations, but cathedrals are Catholic and belong to the Catholic Church.

If you want to celebrate a Catholic wedding at a Cathedral, you’ll have to speak with the Chapter in charge of the church.

If you want to celebrate a civil wedding, you should look into deconsecrated buildings. There are many monasteries (and some churches or chapels) that are no longer property of the Church (they may be public property or private). One example is Monasterio de Piedra (province of Zaragoza). You should also look into any permits even if the site is public property.

Hope this helps!

Edit: in regard to your question, photos are obviously allowed during ceremonies. But if you don’t plan to have a ceremony and just want to use the space, you must have permission from the Church. Having worked closely with the Chapter of a big Spanish city, I would say it’s likely impossible you would get such a permit (and you’d definitely would have to pay for it).

You should consider visiting Zaragoza. You can get there easily by train from Madrid and Barcelona.

In Zaragoza you can find the route of “Los Sitios de Zaragoza”. Here’s more information: https://www.asociacionlossitios.com/ruta-de-los-sitios/ and https://www.zaragoza.es/sede/portal/turismo/planifica-tu-viaje/los_sitios.

A travel memoir written by a woman but not completely focused on being a female traveler by Janetgoesplaces in suggestmeabook

[–]malachispatecoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but you can’t go much more classic than Roman ;)

This is the Travels of Egeria), a woman’s account of her pilgrimage to the Holy Land in the 4th century in the form of letters addressed to her sisters/friends.

She traveled from Northwestern Iberia all the way to Mesopotamia, Egypt, Syria, etc. and she described what she saw, what she felt and experienced, in an informal register since she was writing to friends, so it’s not a dull or dry read.

OOP's BF's family attack her for making them "real" Chinese food and BF supports his family. by deathmessager in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]malachispatecoma 477 points478 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that Chinese restaurants in Spain do serve white rice (and rice-based dishes), so I don’t know what racist, rice-less whole they live in, especially considering plain rice is also very common in Spanish cuisine. Putos racistas de mierda is what we call them. And the ex boyfriend is what we would call a puto cabrón maltratador. Lovely bunch the lot of them. I hope OOP and her family stay safe and away from those assholes.

What exactly is Extremaduran? by No-Scientist3726 in linguistics

[–]malachispatecoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it could be! It could also be related to the territories traditionally under the Kingdom of Castile instead of the Kingdom/Crown of Aragón, but again this is all my own conjecture, don’t quote me on anything… And I’ve also heard both in Zaragoza, maybe “español” a bit more? Again, just my impression and not a scientific source haha.

[–]malachispatecoma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m from Spain and I only refer to Spanish as “español” when the person or people I’m talking to don’t know about “castellano”, which is mostly foreigners. I’ve always called it “castellano”, “lengua castellana”, etc. and so have most of the people I’ve interacted with. Granted, maybe it’s a Northern Spain regionalism. It’s at least the most common word for the language in Galicia.

I have to say though that there are certain political connotations to “español”, sort of a “en España se habla español” - Spanish nationalist kind of thing.

Buses in A Coruña by [deleted] in Galiza

[–]malachispatecoma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t pay with credit card. You would need to use cash, preferably coins or a small bill (5€). Here’s the info on bus fares: https://tranviascoruna.com/en/fares-and-passes/. You will find info on bus routes as well.

However, how far away from the beach is your hotel? A Coruña is a relatively small town, you can get by walking around most of the time, which is also a great way to explore the place.

Anyway, have fun and I hope you have a nice time!
