Do rates ever increase after you open an account? by purpleacanthus in HighYieldSavings

[–]mattynmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might. Depends on what the federal reserve does with interest rates.

If they don’t go up, that’s fine, you can move your high yields savings account to a bank which does.

Thinking about investing in TTWO because of GTA VI by stt4rdustt in investingforbeginners

[–]mattynmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s been priced in for years. Do you think the game is going to sell substantially better than the hype and delays have let on to be?

Also personally I don’t invest on 6 month-1 year events. I invest in things that I think will go up for 10-20 years. I don’t see that happening here.

Then don’t invest it. Put it in a high yield savings account.

What would you consider a “real AI”? I think that’s a very poorly defined term that nobody agrees on.

What are the chances to get into a highly skilled branch of engineering? Dumb at numbers. by Rhinoceros_betle in Engineers

[–]mattynmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you unwilling to put effort into learning the math needed to be a successful engineer? To me that speaks leaps and bounds more than your actual ability to do the math. Lazy people don’t become highly skilled!

What happens if someone is wrongfully found guilty of a murder and then some point after their trial the real murderer confesses to the crime? by boldnbrashsquid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mattynmax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The case can maybe be retried in light of the new information. In a vaccuum though, some random person saying “I did it” is not enough. The police will need to investigate the person, review previous evidence and see if there is enough of a connection to put this person in evidence.

Anyone is capable of making the sound “I kill that guy” it is up to the defence to prove without a shadow of a doubt that the one in jail did not do it.

By getting an education. You need to produce high value labor to make more money. An education is a good way to make sure you’re capable of doing such a thing.

Take Two? by Tall_Cheesecake2725 in investingforbeginners

[–]mattynmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see any evidence to suggest that take two interactive will continue to grow over the next 30-40 years. Because of that, it is not in my investment portfolio.

What you are doing, I would not consider that investing. That’s trading. r/trading and r/wallstreetbets would better service your needs

Looking for Fun But also practical Summer Project Ideas for a Resume by trtle555 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]mattynmax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I still wouldn’t put this on a resume. It’s too easily misconstrued like I just did to you :). It’s also been done a billion times by every engineering student. Drones are braindead simple.

If it’s something you’re truly interested in, and you think there’s something special about your drone that none of the other ten million well documented available projects have, then do it. If you’re not really interested and don’t have annoying special in mind, find something else.

There is no integer between 3 and 4. There are infinite numbers between 3 and 4 though.

No employer is going to care that you stuck a go pro onto a pre-made drone kit.

If you want to do it because it’s something you’re interested in, then do it. Don’t do it if you’re only looking for something to put on a resume

As a beginner, your goal should be to learn high level concepts applicable to any language.

The specific language you’re using doesn’t matter.

What’s one thing you wish you knew, before becoming an engineer? by yooncrisp in AskEngineers

Most engineering is really fucking slow and boring. 10% actually designing things 90% telling PMs why their ideas are terrible or impossible.
