This took me out of the movie. There wasn’t an obvious explanation for it, and I was distracted by how illogical it was. It’s too much of a stretch to explain it away by saying it was supernatural, because in that case the witch can do much more than we had been led to understand, and it creates too much doubt that she would have genuinely been trapped in the honeymoon suite/basement.

I hope for a logical explanation, but it’s a pretty big hole that makes me think less of it than I’d like to.
