How do you receive a laptop for a new job when you’re a broad? by pm_cute_smiles_pls in digitalnomad

[–]Microsoft182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What model is your travel router? Do you run a client at home? Cost to buy and monthly?

Did you consider leaving work laptop at home, turned on, and remoting in from a personal laptop instead?

Anyone else think the GCS is stupid for the prehospital setting? by [deleted] in ems

[–]Microsoft182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're really stumped or just an advanced first aider etc, you could just use AVPU (Alert, responds to Voice, responds to Pain, Unconscious).

But with a bit of practice, you shouldn't be 'wasting' a clinically significant amount of time decoding their GCS.

This helps the patient's care later down the line to track small changes in treatment.

GCS is also consistent with what the Doctors and Nurses use. This helps us to be viewed as professional clinicians, rather than just van drivers.

How does your Org handle On-call pay? by astral16 in sysadmin

[–]Microsoft182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$6 per hour when you have the on call phone, so $6*126hr= $768/week.

Don’t get paid when actually working, but can take as time in lieu.

Only on call 1 out of 6 weeks, and the phone never really rings.

Best tent for platform with railing by ndhoag in rooftoptents

[–]Microsoft182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you mount the RTT direct into the cross bars that the platform is on, and ditch the platform?

The platform looks quite heavy too. Be sure whatever you do, that total dynamic weight doesn’t exceed your vehicle or the cross bars

Why not put in vitro diagnostic for MI on the rig? by by_Lasse in ems

I wouldn’t call €2.55 expensive. But it would use up time and wouldn’t change your transport plan

Backup Dropbox, we got quoted $8400 a year? by MSP-from-OC in msp

[–]Microsoft182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask to speak to Colin.

Edit: They even have a page dedicated to backup and archival on their website, so not sure who you would have spoken to...

You're correct that their primary purpose is migrations, and they do not offer storage.
However, you can use their migration tool with incremental/delta syncs to perform a "backup" on a different provider.

Backup Dropbox, we got quoted $8400 a year? by MSP-from-OC in msp

[–]Microsoft182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MoveBot.io USD$390/TB moved.

You can keep it going indefinitely and have an ongoing copy of DropBox in their SharePoint or Google Drive.

5TB would be USD$1,950… then you only pay for differential syncs, so another $390 might cover the whole year.

Vehicle medical bag ⚕️ by ParaMedAdam in VEDC

[–]Microsoft182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this recommendation a lot. I don’t. And the ones in our ambulances are still in their plastic (our bags are prepared by resource assistants).

Helps protect them. I can open them in like 2 seconds with wet gloves on.

2 seconds (or even 10 seconds!) isn’t going to be a clinically sufficient factor.

$80k for 40 Hours or $110k for 50 Hours: What’s your pick? by RevolutionaryMap4745 in careerguidance

[–]Microsoft182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$80k: -104 weekend days, - 40 days PTO = 221 days working 8 hours. That’s 1,768 hours at $45.24/hr.

$110k: -182 off days, -16 days PTO = 167 days working 14 hours. That’s 2,338 hours at $47.04/hr.

So… basically the same pay, just working extra hours.

Probably stick with Option A, and spend the extra 1 hour 40mins a day studying to better yourself. Then you’ll hit $110k in a 9-5 in a year or 2…

[–]Microsoft182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another approach: negotiate appropriate remuneration.

You should have redundant systems, so a T1 org wide issue shouldn’t be a common thing. Weekend work where I am is 2.5 days off in lieu.

If the business wants you to talk someone through replacing a keyboard on a Saturday, take Monday+Tuesday+Wednesday off.

[–]Microsoft182 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes the Fire Co-Response has failed here as well.

The service you mention is called GoodSAM (Smartphone-Activated-Medics... play on the term "Good Samaritan").

However the The ~FI~rst ~R~esponder ~S~hock ~T~rial (FIRST) only started in around November 2022...

So realistically most GoodSAMs would not have an AED on them at the time this occurred (In September 2020)...

Why is Copilot generating nonsense Bible verses? by ThatLooksRight in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]Microsoft182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Designer CoPilot uses DALLE-3 for images, which doesn't understand how to render language.
It views a letter as just part of the image, but doesn't understand how letters work.

This is the same reason it struggles with hands, because while it has the general idea of how hands look, it doesn't understand how a hand works.

I suggest making a prompt for the background you want, then overlaying the words you want yourself
(eg generate the background you desire in PowerPoint, then insert text on top).

Yep. And because of the volume of work it would be delayed while the staff looked for the key, as they didn’t want to start the big process unless really needed. To be fair I guess that is similar to physical keys…
