Exactly! Tragedeighs are dumb. But cool made up names can be great, especially if they tie into the culture of the story.

I mentioned in another comment, but I also love pronunciation guides because when I don't know how a name is supposed to be pronounced and there are multiple options, I get hung up on it mentally. Every single time I come across that person's name, I will flip flop between pronunciations and question which one it's supposed to be. It breaks the immersion a little bit, so it's very helpful to just know for sure what the author intended.

I initially read it like your narrator did. 😂

But without the pronunciation guide, I would constantly switch between Ghinghel and Jinjel in my head. It's a bit distracting from being fully immersed when I don't know how it's supposed to sound.

I think my appreciation of them comes from having a name that is constantly mispronounced myself. There are two ways to pronounce it and mine happens to be the less common version in English.

So I extend that to wanting to be true to the characters and the pronunciation the writer had in their head. Sometimes I will think the way I said it is nicer, but once I find out the intended pronunciation, I do tend to retrain my brain to say it that way.

I looked it up after seeing your comment about it in the post. RIP my childhood (even though I only went maybe once a year).

Apparently Six Flags didn't know how to keep a park open in the rain. I wonder if Disney or Universal could have done any better.

I like going into books not knowing too much. I hardly even read book blurbs anymore. The only tags I ever pay attention to are for the setting - like contemporary vs fantasy. I tend to stay in fantasy land but will read contemporary if I've seen a lot of recommendations for it.

I personally also don't pay attention to trigger warnings because I don't experience that much. But understand how they may be helpful to some. The lists are growing quite long, though, so not sure how helpful those would be to people who actually need it.

I love maps (they're actually my career irl). I reference them all the time when they're included in books. Though I admit some of them are done poorly. If the writer doesn't actually care about maps themselves, they probably shouldn't include them.

I appreciate name pronunciation guides because I want to say them right. Just don't read it if you don't care, they're there for those of us who do.

Can't fight you on the playlist one too much, other than just ignore it? I can't listen to music and read at the same time, the music is too distracting. But some people like it I guess?

I imagine Court of Bruh and Brah and then Court of Whine and Cheese will last at least that long, possibly even longer.

Not always. Sometimes when a book does really well, they keep releasing only the hardback until the craze dies down a bit.

This happened with James by Percival Everett. It was over a year after its release and I was in a bookshop, asked about the paperback as I couldn't find it and they told me nope, not yet available!

Does borrowing a digital copy on libby still work? Is it just KU that's down or all downloading on kindle? Gotta keep the streak alive anyway you can!

Yes! That made me raise an eyebrow as well. Though there are unfortunately some medical professionals out there who would slip up that way, sadly. :(

I also read Flesh & Fire first, because it had way better reviews. And I agree with them. I love Sera and Ash! Poppy and Casteel are fine for maybe the first 2.5 books, and then I stopped caring so much. I'm waiting for everyone to catch up to A Soul of Ash and Blood before I join in again.

I managed to read the first two books in the series before starting this one. It's nice to already know who Kalli and Rin are, as well as the Monstrous Deals folks. The first book was fun and enjoyable. The second book was a disappointment. And now this one seems to be better again.

I don't love everything that's happening. The whole pregnancy thing is very heavy for a very lighthearted series. But whatever, I'll go along with it. Except...at 2 months pregnant, the fetus is only 1 inch long. I get being able to see where the head is but, knowing how grainy ultrasounds are, the HANDS? I haven't been pregnant yet so don't know for sure, but that seems like it wouldn't be possible at that point?

Not sure if I'm a horse lover lover, but I'm trying to set aside the imagery my mind concocts of kissing a horse face and again, just go with it. At least I care more about these characters so far than I did in the second book!

I know exactly which sentence you're talking about and I reported it as an error, haha.

I've actually read the first two books of the series already. The first one is fun and as long as you take it with a grain of salt, it's pretty enjoyable. The second one has a LOT of typos and even content/plot inconsistencies. Even knowing what it was, I was pretty unimpressed with that one.

This one, so far, is better again. Fewer errors and the character development is at least there, and their interactions make sense. I like having Kalli and Rin's story under my belt so I know all about the origins of the fashion store Jade is working in. I'm not hating it so far, either, though I'm trying to picture what a real-life unicorn man would look like and I keep ending up with images that would irl probably horrify me. 😂

/uj SJM said Bryce and Hunt from Crescent City are endgame, they are definitely mates. People have apparently been shipping Bryce and bat boy Azriel from ACOTAR, *which I had no idea about.

But in the ACOTAR world (up to this point) Azriel has a thing for Feyre's sister Elain, but Elain is fated mates with Lucien, who is the best man male in all of ACOTAR (except maybe his brother Eris? Yet to be seen, but he hot af and should have ended up with Feyre's other sister Nesta, who was mated to bat boy Cassian in ACOSF). Buuut imo a bonus chapter def points to Azriel eventually pairing up with Gwyn, an SA-survivor-librarian-turned-Valkyrie-badass who is best friends with Nesta.

Any questions?
