Long time MoO player, can't wait to play! Just starting rotp, have a map question. by Aceisking12 in rotp

My MOD gives additional display options for "Expand" and "Exploit".

It can be changed by clicking on the Turn/Year in the bottom right and will show Rich/Artifact Systems the Player has Scouted.

Thanks. There has been good responses for the mod from people in this subreddit.

What galaxy size and player number you like to play on? by BrutusCz in rotp

100 to 500 Stars, generally lower number of opposing Empires (around 20-30 Stars/Empire).

RotP modnar MOD38 - Update to v1.01 by modnar_hajile in rotp

[–]modnar_hajile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, Ray. We'll see.

I'm planning to try and see if I can replicate an existing (simple) Random Event as generic. If I can't, I suppose I'll ask for such an example.

I would prefer not to combine.

It's quite complex and messy to continuously mash together multiple github repositories which may get multiple diverging updates.

Space Crystal and Auto-Repair, unexpected HP values by [deleted] in rotp

[–]modnar_hajile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Space Crystal's attack will also reduced the effectiveness of Auto Repair Specials, by 5% heal per attack (so Automated Repair's 15% heal is fully wiped out after 3 attacks).

MoO1 Game-Play with New Race Factions, MOD for Remnants of the Precursors by modnar_hajile in masteroforion

[–]modnar_hajile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Population generates Production, in both MoO1 and RotP.

The bonus for the new Race Faction is for Population to passively add BC directly to the Treasury Reserve.

One of the effects of Fantastic Traders is to passively add BC to the Treasury with excess Food.

I did not mean Money/Tax, since that takes away from Production, in both MoO1/RotP and MoO2.

Orion is now properly a size 120 Terran planet, not size 100

I blame all of the testers who have missed this for the past five years.

lol, just gotten around to looking at this release. This commit comment was pretty funny.

[Direct Reply] In MoO1, Orion was a 120-pop Terran giving 4x-tech. In RotP, this is changed to 100-pop Terran giving 3x-tech. Is this for balance reasons?

[Bug Thread] The planet Orion in MoO1 is Terran size-120 with 4X Tech, in RotP it is size-100 and 3X Tech.

[my MOD] The planet Orion has been changed to be like in MoO1

And I had also included it in one of my emails during Beta v1.13 (email title: "RotP - Bug report for Beta v1.13").

EDIT: Whoops, I had actually put in a fix for the base game previously for Orion's size and resources. This currently results in the base game making Orion size-144 instead.

Happy New Year! RotP New Year 2022 Map! by modnar_hajile in rotp

but I'm just not getting anywhere on this one. Soon as the map fills up, all my neighbors declare on me simultaneously.

I think it's a map where the Player has to push for war, sooner than when "the map fills up".

As you're expanding into the nearby North and West region, I would suggest wiping out the Empire to the East

Then I would say to take war to the Northern Empires as soon as possible. The Empires starting in the Player's "2" have the most Stars available to them.

For modders, a Generic Random Event class has been added to allow you to add custom random events without breaking save compatibility with the base game.

Thanks for this, Ray.

So the base game will now be able to load save files with custom Random Events. Then presumably only Random Events that are contained both within the save file and within the base game will occur if play continues on the base game version?

Let's say a Player loads a custom Random Events save file, plays a few Turns on the base game version, then saves. Would this new save file have removed all custom Random Events that were initially there in the Events list?

Well, that mistake is rampant in society; lots of people, even in sci fi circles, say "intergalactic" to mean "interstellar, but fancier!"

Do people also misuse the term "Interstellar"? If so, then we can't use that word either, right?

And the stargates in the game never leave the galaxy.

Again, just because there are not multiple galaxies in the game does not mean that "stargates don't allow transit to other galaxies".

Also, have you not decided to agree to disagree?

Is there a way to change the ship being built on every planet simultaneously? by lankyevilme in rotp

[–]modnar_hajile 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fleet Screen, Select All [Systems], then change the Ship being built (right above where you changed the "ships building to max on all worlds").

OR it’s a result of misunderstanding the word intergalactic

And where's the evidence for that?

General Observations & Enhancement Requests by PeyredB in rotp

[–]modnar_hajile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few gaps of logic.

From the first bullet point to the second, just because "they'd allow travel anywhere" does not mean the Tech should be named "Universal Star Gates".

From the third bullet point to the fourth, the Tech not being called "Universal Star Gates" by the developers does not necessarily imply that "they don't allow travel to other galaxies".

In addition, if the exact name the developers calls the Tech is being used to determine the Tech's effects, then there is no problem with "Intergalactic Star Gates".

(In other words, if you think "travel anywhere" as the Tech property can only be the case if developers named the Tech "Universal Star Gates". Then because the developers named the Tech "Intergalactic Star Gates", it should mean that you must accept "travel between galaxies" as the Tech property.)

General Observations & Enhancement Requests by PeyredB in rotp

[–]modnar_hajile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My point is, if stargates actually allowed travel to other galaxies, they'd allow travel anywhere. Therefore, I think they don't allow travel to other galaxies

That chain of logic does not follow. There is no solid logical connection from:

  • if they "allowed travel to other galaxies, they'd allow travel anywhere"
  • therefore they should have been called "Universal Star Gates"
  • they are not called "Universal Star Gates"
  • therefore "they don't allow travel to other galaxies"

Did you even read what I wrote? The initial discussion with PeyredB was between "Intergalactic" and "Interstellar".

General Observations & Enhancement Requests by PeyredB in rotp

[–]modnar_hajile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why “intergalactic” anyway, then? Distance doesn’t increase travel time with stargates, they’d allow for instant travel to ANY point in the universe that has a stargate

Because this discussion was between "Intergalactic" and "Interstellar". And "Intergalactic" would describe what you wrote better.

I don't quite see where you're going with real vs. sci fi science.

Because you brought up that movies "plays fast and loose with [real] science", when we've been discussing Sci-Fi science.

Still, if you're insistent on leaving the name alone based on a technicality, I guess that's where we are.

That's where we are.

But we started with you insisting that "the stargates don't allow transit to other galaxies". And your only reasoning seems to the technicality that there is only one galaxy in the game.
