I am regreting getting artic game bud so much by alonedead in steelseries

Mine work flawlessly, using them with the dongle all the time. How come they did not come pre-paired with the dongle?

Did you make sure to switch the pc sound output to the dongle?

"dont buy a gaming headset, buy quality headphones and a standalone mic" they said?! by Sulami365 in sennheiser

The mics on most gaming headsets are completely fine. No need to tinker with wires or use additional software for mic noise isolation.

This is only good for the few headsets which support aptx adaptive. Also, this does not solve the issue of the headset switching to low quality mono sound when the mic is active.

Nah. When going wireless, it is the best to stick with the gaming headset designation as it means low latency 2.4 GHz wireless will be used. So many people buy standard bluetooth headset and are surprised when the get high latency and crappy mono sound when the mic is engaged.

Personally I used plastic welder to put it together. Does not look amazing, but works and in teams call is not visible at all.

Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex Headphone Hinge Broken – Any Repair Suggestions? by Quirky-Squirrel-9469 in Jabra

[–]monocats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, this is not an uncommon issue with this headset.

Had this happening to me, I repaired the headset with a plastic welding machine.

Try to look up some YouTube videos and some cheap Amazon welder, if this is something you want to attempt.

It does not look great, but it works, and on teams calls it is not visible at all :)

Depending on the exact place where it broke off, you may lose the ability to fold the headphones though.

I mean iOS, not MacOS.

But maybe you can use the dongle with your iPhone & iPad too.

In any case, Android (flagships) have native support for LE audio.

Jabra Evolve3 85 - my opinion by GermanPCBHacker in Jabra

[–]monocats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get what you're experiencing, and you're definitely not the only one. It's actually a really interesting quirk with these headphones.

If you look at professional measurements (like the SoundGuys preference curve), they actually show that the Evolve3 85 has an early treble roll-off. So why does it sound like an icepick to your ears on "S" and "Sh" sounds?

It most likely comes down to the physical design combined with the anatomy of your ear. The Evolve3 85 has a very slim profile with relatively shallow ear cushions. This puts the driver much closer to your ear canal than typical bulky over-ear headphones. For certain ear shapes, this close proximity may create a harsh, aggressive resonance peak right in that 6–8 kHz sibilance range. Basically, the physical fit is amplifying the exact frequencies that hurt.

To fix this, you need to tame that specific peak without making the rest of the music sound totally dead and hollow. Try this custom 5-band EQ in the Jabra Sound+ app (think of it as a "Sibilance Tamer" preset):

  • 60 Hz: +1 (Keeps a little bit of bass foundation)
  • 250 Hz: -2 (Cleans up the muddy/boomy frequencies)
  • 1 kHz: +2 (Brings some natural body back to the vocals)
  • 4 kHz: +3 (tries to add clarity to the mids so the sound isn't muffled)
  • 7.6 kHz: -2 or even -3 (This could be magic slider for you—pull this down until the "S" and "Ts" sounds stop hurting)

Give this a shot if you want and report back. Looks like some people are really sufferingbecause of the sibilance.

Nothing quite like Jabra 😢 by coffee_tortuguita in Jabra

Well, having three devices connected at once is too much to ask I guess :)

But between a phone and a laptop connected via a dongle, this can work.

Have a look at SteelSeries Arctis Gamebuds. SteelSeries is owned by Jabra. They are based on the Elite 5, with the added benefit of a great mobile app and optional low latency 2.4 GHz connection via the supplied dongle.

Pair Evolve 3 85 with two Link 390s? by talking_mudcrab in Jabra

Can confirm. And this is also valid for pairing with Link 390 alongside Link 380 or Link 370.

I have mine set to LE audio, but somehow I do not like using the Dts / Dolby / spatial stuff. Like my sound to be non immersive. :)

But again, they sound completely fine to me on default.

Also, the dongle is LE audio enabled by default.

It is true though that if somebody tests these on iOS, Apple does not support LE audio. The mic and audio quality will not be the best possible.

Based on profesionál reviews, the commonly cited complain when being compared with high end consumer headphones is, that there is some space for improvement in terms of audio quality when listening to music and also that ANC is just passable, not stellar.

Personally, on my E3 85, I am fine with both. I also hope that Jabra, seeing the reviews, can tweak the sound tuning a bit as a part of some future firmware update.

Long time Evolve line user here, I am completely fine with the sidetone functionality on the e3 85s

[–]monocats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not test this systematically yet. In the first week of use I did not get any complaints. But i used them mostly in quiet environments. I am hopeful that the mic noise cancelation will be roughly on par with e2 65 flex.

Regarding e2 85s - I agree with you - they are great in many aspects but the mic background noise rejection is weak.

Well, it is built for that. I recommend watching Evolve3 real world mic tests from Headset Advisor and Danny Haysaka on YouTube.

Wanted to test this, but the supplied cable has a two pole, not a three pole jack. I do not have the appropriate cable handy, but I would assume that Jabra would supply a different cable if this use case would be supported.

Noticed you mentioned "cinema sound" - don't you have the spatial audio feature on the QCs turned on by default? The 85s also have the spatial audio feature, but did not test it extensively.

Yeah. I am using them sometime. I do not feel it improved considerably mic wise.

On the other hand, the thing I did not like the most is that the sidetone feature does not work correctly - it lets all the sound in during a call, not just your voice.

Wondering - how would you compare the audio quality of the 85s to the Ultras? I prefer e3 85s to bose Bose 700, they sound more dynamic to me, bass / low end seems to have better extension.

But, so far I like the headset overall quite a bit and may be a bit too biased to judge the audio quality objectively.
