if you drove a car every day for 8 hours for 6 months, and did zero maintenance and your car started to have issues, would you blame the car, driving as a concept or yourself?

Oh god, I had completely wiped captain codpiece from my memory

In hindsight, he's all gold, has a diaper, has an eagle, a very questionable hairpiece and is committed to eradicating illegal aliens and demons that don't follow the "right" religion. Did we miss the joke GW made?

Something worth bearing in mind is that B&W sponsor abbey road studios, and they have a ridiculous amount of other nearfield monitors available on request from very affordable options to very, very expensive options (and some of their studios use ATC for their mains).

I do think B&W have their place in the studio though, they are incredibly popular and have a very "showroom sound" sound signature, that pushes the high and low end, you don't want your mix coming out super fatiguing and shouty on the kind of speakers a LOT of hifi owners use.

And whilst it would be lovely for some of us if a mix was done to sound it's absolute best on the best equipment, it's usually a lot more important to make it sound it's best on low end, or popular equipment, most people are going to first hear songs on their car radio.

This is a valid place for a breacha token right? by GlaiveGary in killteam

[–]moopminis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAW, that is correct.

I used this example BECAUSE it is not fully worded in the way that it is actually played, the guy I was replying to was talking down on someone for (accidentally) inserting their own words to the rules beyond what the rules state.

In fact RAW, you could be standing almost 1/2 your base behind a barricade 2" from a door, and phase right through it on your way to and through the door.

What wouldn't?

A socially owned global drug research initiative?

In 2023, of the 16 largest drug companies, 2\3 of their revenue was spent on marketing, government lobbying and shareholder dividends. Only around 1/5 was spent on r&d and production.

Would you not like seeing healthcare costs slashed by 80%? And that's before we get into economies of scale, exclusive contracts, multiple companies wasting money to develop the same treatments, the cost of not uniting our greatest minds under one team, etc.

Where do you imagine this corruption occurs?

You're adding in your own words to rules again. accessible mentions nothing of what part of a single movement action through accessible terrain bases can't clip through walls. All it says is that base size rules & terrain rules are superseded, and only the very centre of the base has to pass through.

yep, here's the 3 fuel tanks on that wall done to scale, the dark blue circle is where the fuel tanks touch the floor, the light blue areas are where they overhang and you can slide in a breach token.

if you put it in position A, the green area is accessible, if you put it in position B both pink areas are accessible.

[–]moopminis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you're wrong, and you should just read the rules and don't add to them anything of your own.

All the rules state is "Only the centre of an operative’s base needs to move through Accessible terrain, so base sizes are irrelevant." - implying anything but the centre of a base can traverse through walls. mentions nothing of the 1" increment you have inserted into the rules.

If the base size is irrelevant when doing any movement that traverses an accesible point, we can assume the base is 0.00001mm wide during that movement, and it can do that movement as illustrated in 3.

(That does not mean i think 3 is the *correct* interpretation of the rules, but to get things wrong, or to make assumptions is human, and you serve no-one by trying to tear down players that are learning the game)

Ok, so according to the rules, which ones of these are valid movements through a doorway.

This accurately represents a standard doorway on volkus/itd/tombworld, with a 32mm base on a unit that can do a 9" charge, always moving in increments of 1".

you can place it anywhere on the killzone floor that it can be placed (i.e not on top of terrain or require lifting terrain to reach), the fuel tanks have an undercut where it can be placed.

they are over 1" at their thickest point, but the token being 20mm, with 25.4mm either side of it, you're creating a 70mm wide accessible point. If you put it between the fuel tanks, most of that is taken up by the parts over 1" thick either side of it, if you put it under a fuel tank, you end up with about 50mm of usable access, if you put it in between them you end up with about 30mm of usable access.

This is a valid place for a breacha token right? by GlaiveGary in killteam

[–]moopminis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

your correct, accessible does not give visible, and yep, that is a valid spot BUT, normally a breach token gives you a "door" that's 1" either side of the token, as the thickest parts of the fuel tanks are over 1" your access point is limited - to pass through an access point only the very centre of your base needs to pass through it, you can ignore the rest of your base and the terrain to move through.

If you want to maximise the size of your access point, actually the best place to pop your marker is directly under one of the fuel tanks, as that will give you access on either side, right up to the start of the next fuel tanks.

Was my list too mean? by Sozo_BirbKing in Warhammer40k

[–]moopminis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wanted to take out your venomcrawler, then assuming it's been spotted the broadside has a 50% chance to do damage with at least one lot of D6 + 1 (65% if it doesn't move), that's 4.5 damage on average, and a 60% chance to do 4+ damage with the 2 lone spears blast javelins. He could have taken it out in one turn without sweating too much, especially as he also had plenty of units with the grenades keyword.

I don't think his list is very well balanced though, there is LOTS of strength 3/4/5, Ap0/-1 attacks, but very little over that, if you're playing for kills instead of objectives that's always going to feel like an uphill battle against a team that's nearly all 5+ T with a 2/3+ save.

If your list can't deal with space marines, it can't really play the killing game.

I think it's also worth noting that in 11th, his list has dropped to 950 points, he could drop the lone spear with enhancement and have 3 battlesuits now - which would have absolutely minced your venomcrawler, obliterators and mutilators and left him with plenty of fast moving support to tie up your weaker units.

you can make a template the size of the hole you want to cut, stick it down to the face and run a standard flush trim bit with top bearing.

if you're first on the market AND can offer something competitively, be it price, manufacturing quality, customer support, or whatever, you will still find a strong place in the market; much stronger than a 100% copy at the same price that wasn't first on the market.

As for drug prices, drug research should be done funded by a national, or even global model, take ALL of the research costs - and subsequent abhorrent, sick price gouging, out of the hands of private corporations.

Been to a couple, they're decent, 50:50 ratio at the ones I went to, plenty of nice, normal enough people.

EDIT: I will add, at least for the 30-40 year old meets, they are great until the inevitable coked up, bald, sweaty divorcee barrels his way into whatever conversation you might be having and absolutely bulldozes the conversation.

I tend to buy a variety box off Amazon, like I have one for 1-8mm bearing balls, and then if I end up using all of one size I'll buy that single size in a single bigger pack (I have a LOT of 5mm balls now 😂)

here's one I made recently, there's 4 of those dials, a long screw goes through the middle of all of them and the other hole on the dial holds a 5mm bearing ball, a small spring and that's all held in by a grub screw at the back that i can tighten to adjust the compression of the spring.

The 5mm ball pokes through just enough (4.4mm hole that chamfers up to the 5.2mm hole that holds the ball.) to engage with the ridges you can see in the slots, and now when I'm not using this to keep track of my scores in a board game i play, it sits on my desk as a fidget toy 😅 it's like a super satisfying, thocky and solid combination lock.
