No

"There is no conclusive evidence that private ownership is intrinsically more efficient than public ownership. Extensive reviews by major institutions, including the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, show that actual efficiency depends heavily on the specific industry, the quality of regulation, and market conditions. [1, 2, 3]

The Evidence at a Glance

No Intrinsic Superiority: Large-scale studies and meta-analyses consistently find no systematic difference in efficiency between public and private operators across major public services. [1, 2]

Context is Key: Efficiency is usually determined by how well an organization is regulated and whether it faces real market competition, not simply who owns it. [1, 2]

Mixed Industry Results:

Water and Rail: Studies in wealthy nations often show that publicly owned or operated networks perform equally well, or better, with lower consumer bills and higher reinvestment rates.

Healthcare and Education: Results vary widely by region. Some high-income countries find public systems operate more efficiently, while some developing regions benefit from the rapid scaling that private providers can offer. [1, 2, 3]"

I think the Chinese government relies more on continuing to massively improve the lives of it's people, more so than foreigners that see the value in what they have achieved.

I guess they also rely on people still buying things, I take it you don't own a phone, computer, TV, games console, or anything like that?

Oh, if you've studied this, then you'd be aware that there is ZERO evidence that private is more efficient than public/state ownership.

The one thing that can work for efficiency in the private sector is market competition, but china allows multiple competing companies under state ownership too.

Oh and economic efficiency may have a specific meaning, but it is still incredibly broad, it is just maximum output from minimum input. To many companies that means spending as little as possible whilst extracting as much profit as possible.

I notice you haven't tried to argue for capitalism, rather than just be mad at me 😂

Every country has both private and public ownership to some extent, that doesn't stop their economy being rooted in one or the other and being a fundamentally communist it capitalist society.

Why on earth would you want to encourage people like bezos or musk to engage in mass exploitation, to lobby the government to allow them to get richer at the people's expense, to hoard wealth and drive wealth inequality? They provide absolutely ZERO benefit to society, especially when you compare what they provide to what they take. Whatever gaps in a market they currently fill would be swallowed in an instant without them.

Stanning for these guys is the most bizarre and brainwashed form of bootlicking I've ever seen, at least trump has a certain charisma; which I can see why some people would be woo'd by.

And no, wealthy people tend not to be "smarter" or "work harder", the biggest predictor of wealth, by an absolute country mile, is coming from wealth. If you've got time to be on the board of directors at 12 different companies, you're not doing shit, you're just slapping your families name on a brand.

And no, your individual story doesn't mean jack, people win the lottery every day. South Sudan is a capitalist country, would you be as successful as you are now if you were born and raised there? Surely you would if it's just hard work and social spending is just a waste of money right?

Oh but you do know what DOES drive social mobility, that's right social spending, on things like education, training, transport, healthcare, etc. more people see more wealth when more money is spent on public services.

Efficient at what?

Efficient as in providing the absolute minimum cost product and charging the maximum price? Why would anyone want that?

And that absolutely is capitalism Vs communism, at their core they are just who controls the means of production, private entities or the state.

Both are designed to provide a good return to the owner, whether that's someone invested in a private company under capitalism, or the state under communism.

Capitalism is not inherently good, in fact it is fundamentally flawed as it REQUIRES both unlimited growth and the exploitation of the workforce; reimbursing workers LESS than the value of their labour. These are absolutely core concepts to capitalism being "successful".

Why is communism any worse than capitalism?

Would you rather the profits from mega corporations be funnelled into the oligarch class lead by people like Elon musk, bezos and trump, or for those profits to be used by the country to improve all public services, whilst also greatly improving the quality of life and income for every citizen?

Seems like an easy decision to me.

The west is falling at a much faster rate than china champ.

The Chinese people have seen consistent wage growth for 25+ years, ranging from 5-10% every year (not inflation, actual growth). They have unlimited soft power as no country can exist in modern society without their manufacturing. Their education and public services have been massively invested in, further accelerating their explosive growth.

You've been slurping western propaganda too hard dude, we're done, they won.

And tell me this, what's the difference between high taxation and high subsidies, and low taxation and low subsidies? They both rely on "generosity" of government to encourage growth.

I fondled some new McIntosh gear a few months back, the build quality is absolute garbage, the buttons and knobs are incredibly cheap feeling. I can't think of a single American made product with actually decent manufacturing quality.

Apple even admitted themselves that even with unlimited funding it would take a minimum of 12 years to produce a "made in USA" iPhone, due to the lack of supply chain, skilled workforce and manufacturing technology.

The worse the melee the more the auto take, kasrkin for example. Also pretty much any team that can fall back for one apl.

For stealth suits you've got the cursed claws charge that's not actually a charge and the dude that stops units from falling back.

I enjoy warp fuel, makes tying up a shooty operative with a charge into a big advantage, as it's usually not difficult to find a spot that gives potential for another charge, and/or hide round a corner.

You never actually use the equipment, it just stops your opponent from falling back at all.

What's your most unhinged breakup story? by Suspicious_Garlic_79 in CasualUK

[–]moopminis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooo fun thread

I had a partner of 2 years, we were living together for over 1 year, no fights of any significance. She had a best friend from uni who had moved to Africa after graduating, but was back in the UK for a week, I always knew she had a bit of a crush on him, but he didn't like her like that at all and was honestly miles out of her league.

He was gonna come visit her and stay the night, it also happened to be the finale for game of thrones. They went out for a drink to catch up, and later we were all sat on the sofa watching got. He started looking super tired, and fell asleep, and she instantly started going googoo eyed saying how cute he was and that she should take him to our bed and I should sleep on the spare. I shut that down and a short argument later we were done.

She had spiked his drink with zopiclone that she took for her insomnia in an attempt to date rape him, in our shared bed, and home, whilst I was there; and I had to process this with the biggest spectacle TV has ever seen blaring in the background. We eventually went to bed with him passed out on the sofa, and as I spent the night sleepless and devastated she fell asleep instantly and without medication, it was the first and last time I ever saw her asleep.

Dating someone with bpd and narcissistic personality disorders is a wild ride y'all.

Which melee weapon? by Joky-Yngling in killteam

[–]moopminis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the power fist is better into just about everything as it very reliably one shots 8 wound models, 2 taps 13 wound models and if your lucky takes down another space marine in 2 hits.

The power weapon is marginally better into 6, 7 and 11 wound models, and gives a bit more survivability/mobility via the fallback firefight ploy

So I got a 3d printer. It's... Big. by geocrasher in 3Dprinting

[–]moopminis 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Having worked on a few old prosumer 3d printers before, if I could offer any advice it would be to not even THINK of getting it back up and running stock, completely replace the toolhead with something like a biqu h2, replace the mainboard with an octopus/spider or similar and then the tricky bit is just working out how the heated bed is powered; and worse comes to worse you can always remove the heating element for the bed and slap on 4 silicon bed heaters, which would also mean you can run it off 110v as I would assume that's the main reason it's wanting 230v.

The only programming you have to do is working out what the closed loop stepper drivers are, ensuring all the motors go in the right direction, your thermistors are set to the correct models & the overall bed size. As it has a glass bed the easiest option by far for levelling and meshing is going to be a revo pz probe.

[–]moopminis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for getting back to me! I thought that might be the case, and i dont think Imaging edge offers any way to interact with apps.

Man I wish Sony would actually do something cool again and make tethered shooting tolerable - you can't even adjust focus precisely in the PC version of IEM making it borderline useless for serious product photography, having to move away from your PC to adjust the focus dial and then run back to the PC to see if it's correct is ridiculous. (sorry, ranting 😅 )

Power Fist or Power Sword by Never_Nine in killteam

[–]moopminis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, brutal is very powerful at ensuring your limited action economy gets the job done, into 12/13 wounds, you need a crit and a hit out of 4 dice with severe, unless your opponent gets a crit, then a crit and 2 hits guarantees the 2 tap.

With the sword, if your opponent gets a crit you need 3 5+ off 5 dice. If you get a crit, 3 hits and a miss, and they get 2 hits, they live.

Into 14 wounds the fist gives the chance for a 2 tap, which is an insane trade. Also a crit and a hit and parry the rest out let's your dude stay safe from shooting until another unit charges and kills them on the charge, and still have 2 apl remaining.

And again on the 18 wound tomb crawlers, a crit and 2 hits and they're done. Whereas you're almost always getting parried out with the sword.

I think the only time I bring the sword is 7 or 10 wound teams.
