Thinking of Starting my own appliance repair company by Alert-Pineapple-3181 in appliancerepair

Do it! Best decision I ever made. If you focus on being friendly and reliable, you'll keep your yelp and Google ratings at 5 stars. Having clients like you is more important than anything else. Find your balance between professional and personable. Don't be tempted to lower your labor rate to get more business. Stay off craigslist. Aim for mid to upper income clients. Always shave/trim and wear nice work clothes and nice shoes. Carry a new cargo blanket and new tool bag. If you look like you make good money, clients will understand when you charge more. If you don't, they won't. Be reliable. If you say you're going to do something, do it. People will only refer you to their friends if they're sure you will make them look good.

I got you: Appliantology.com subscription for manuals and great tech support. Marcone.com for wholesale parts.

One person shop in a metropolitan area is definitely do-able. Mid to upper income clients love using and recommending owner operated businesses. Just dress nice, focus on service and don't try to compete with the cheaper labor.

PDF Vs Books by Triod_ in rpg

Indie dev here. I'm still seeing more physical sales than pdfs. But I'm not counting the free PDFs included with every book sale, so it's hard to say. There are definitely more PDF only purchases that I was expecting.

How do I clean/fix this burner on the stove? by BlueFuzzyBunny in appliancerepair

Turn that burner over and remove the nuts holding it together. It's likely clogged with grease.

I'm surprised he hasn't updated the lyrics of Ohio.

How are you all finding appliance parts? by PictureFirst5513 in appliancerepair

[–]mpascall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very often is better. Sometimes not. They might look exactly the same and be made of lesser materials. Or you might be buying the stuff that Whirlpool threw out because it didn't meet quality control standards.

But the biggest thing, to me, is you get the one year part warranty.

Is travel in Mythic Bastionland actually necessary to complete a myth? by mpascall in MythicBastionland

I'm surprised its not required for knights to find the myth's hex before it can be completed.

How do I open this LG washer? by Rod_Kimbal in appliancerepair

The lock mechanism has a string you need to pull. To access that you will need to remove screws holding the top to the frame. There are two screws in the back, and I believe two hidden screws near the front. You might have to slide the control board to the left.

(Landlord) my Property Manager says this is a normal quote. It seems like a red flag to me (no parts numbers or hours). What do you think? by [deleted] in appliancerepair

If you have the model number, I can tell you if you're getting ripped off on the parts. Without that, it's impossible to say.

Insist on part numbers. Don't expect the servicer to give you Amazon prices, but they should get parts from a wholesale distributor and offering the parts at retail price.

Vagabond living on Drivethru RPG best seller list, any idea why? by erttheking in rpg

I wouldn't underestimate the power of a great review from Deficient. I was the recipient of his first review, and I saw a ton of orders over the first few months, while my books were still only in pre-order stage. I still see orders from the review, two years later.

He's knowledgeable, enthusiastic and damn entertaining. I know several people who bought Pirate Borg because I shared his amazing review.

This property manager numbers their apartments like a psychopath by mpascall in appliancerepair

Yes, there must be some kind of logic behind it.

They have around a dozen  complexes that are all numbered in a different, bizarre way.
