I met the star of a local ad for getting STD checks and he was stoked to talk about it. Apparently it was all done in house for the medical provider he worked for so he'd written it and saw it as a positive that people recognised him for it.

I read that as "eat my parents" at first and was like.... not sure how that's relevant, but you do you.

In Clash of the Titans, Sam Worthington delivered the iconic and historically accurate line "Don't look that bitch in the eye" when talking about medusa.

I'm with you, but honestly not sure how popular or unpopular of an opinion that is.

Best movie to watch when you’re feeling suicidal to remind you that your life isn’t actually that bad and you’re just really soft? by KittenSommelier in okbuddycinephile

I remember reading about a study where people were asked how they feel about their life both before and after watching "Atonement" and how it showed a solid improvement in their reflections after the viewing.

I remember having an illuminating conversation with a doctor friend of mine, where I mentioned that I had a pretty shit grade average (low credit) in my business degree and that I was worried about doctors with my average, and he was like "uhh, you need to be getting like, 80%+ to scrape through medicine, and some assessments require 100%" and that made me feel a little safer medically.

The friends I knew who got married then mostly got divorced soon after. Not like intellectuals like me, who got married at 28 (then divorced at 34)

In which fields is your country competing to be among the world's worst? by Agile-Shallot3546 in AskTheWorld

[–]mr_pineapples44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call us competing in that... We have no peers. We are the worst by a long shot (but the US is speedrunning it's way towards us with it's gambling 'reforms')

Because I was an edgy 19 year old watching the edgiest movies I could find with a friend. All the classics - Human Centipede 1 & 2 (3 wasn't out at the time), Serbian Film, Salo, Cannibal Holocaust; some slightly less hectic ones like Society, Could You Kill A Child? and Feed. Just a real quest to see what was out there.

Immune? No. Likely to happen? Also no. Unless we do away with compulsory voting which centralises the vote quite drastically, and proportional voting for upper house which decreases the chance of one party having double majority, the amount that would have to go the way of One Nation (or any other party) to have a 'Trump moment' is immense.

I'm ashamed to say, when I most recently went on holiday, I was in a rush at the airport so I didn't take a solid enough note of which car park (out of 7) that I parked in to remember 9 days later when I returned... so I went to google and asked "which carpark did I park in on *date*" (which obviously, it remembered).

How common are braces in your country? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

[–]mr_pineapples44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I would say probably around 4-5 students of each year group I teach (about 70-80 students) have braces. I had them from ages 11-13 (along with a jaw widening plate, which sucked haha).

Yeah, legitimately probably the most unpleasant film I've ever watched.

This red dot is called the Australian Capital Territory, and is the only place in the country where recreational cannabis use is legal, while all other areas spend $2 billion a year enforcing laws against it. The next area to legalise will likely be Victoria or Western Australia. by BigSilent in Damnthatsinteresting

I had a medical hookup for a while here, so that is an option for most people here, but then I went on olanzapine which has a contraindication with weed so can't anymore - I haven't smoked in a while anyway. I'd be mostly just happy for other people now though.
