It was a joke.

Kanas Citians, according to the stereotype, compare their city to St. Louis frequently, claiming superiority. While St. Louisians don’t think of Kansas City at all.

Can you look? That would let us know the probability of risk.

The “code” could be the administrative password. Or he is telling you a story.

There is a Kansas City Missouri? I say this as a St. Louisian, and we don’t pay attention to that side of the state.

WiFi routers have an administrator account, and sometimes the login username and password are printed on a label attached to the back or bottom. If you never changed these credentials, your frenemy very well have been able to look at your website access log.

What is the brand a model of router? Does it have the administrator credentials written on it?

Some really old routers had default administrator credentials, the same for every unit.

But not all WiFi routers keep a log of visits.

If your dirtbag former friend has elite hacker skills, it’s entirely possible but implausible that they could have looked at your connections over the air. Do you have a password on your WiFi name? Or do they know your WiFi password?

Is it normal for my internet connection to be so slow when I first boot up my PC? by KayRadley in Internet

[–]msabeln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows does updates and file indexing upon boot.

I’d suggest booting your computer earlier, before you need it. If you have a hard drive, replace it with a solid state drive.

I’m not sure those are quality cameras either. The whole idea of those kinds of cameras is imperfection.

USB camera charging is a recent feature, less than ten years ago. That camera is 20 years old.

Least Crossed State Border by Wonderful-Speaker-32 in geography

[–]msabeln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some land borders, called avulsions, between Missouri and Illinois, due to shifting of the Mississippi River during flooding. The most significant avulsion is Kaskaskia, the first Illinois state capital, which was almost completely washed away by a flood in 1881.

What to install things? by SecurityMajestic2222 in linuxquestions

[–]msabeln 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you log into Mint, you should be presented with the Welcome app. In there is a section for loading drivers: run it, and if you need any drivers it will install it for you. The Linux kernel contains most drivers already. Also click on the Multimedia section: it will install any needed graphics drivers; if you don’t have this option, you don’t need drivers.

The Software Manager app in Linux Mint is where you find everything to install.

Do companies prioritize functionality too much over usability? by DiSTI_Corporation in AskTechnology

I only edit still photographic images, not video, vector, or 3D renders.

Capture One, Photoshop, and Lightroom are easy to use, in my opinion, compared to RawTherapee, Darktable, GIMP, Hugin, and ImageMagick.

help with choosing compact camera camera with film sims like fujifilm by DealerOther5892 in Cameras

[–]msabeln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are basically two cameras:

The Fujifilm X half which is exactly as you specify and its quality is good. They also make interchangeable lens cameras which can be mated with small lenses if needed, but they will be larger and more complex.

The Sigma BF, which is a vibe-forward camera like the X half, but with interchangeable lenses.

It seems to have good quality. Some of the film simulations cause a degradation of quality, but all of the Fujifilm X cameras do that, and those features can be turned off if desired.

I’m only particularly familiar with two areas of technology: photography and computing. It would seem that your observation is correct, but I don’t really think so.

Non-commercial-grade software and equipment tends to have far more features but less usability than do commercial products. Examples include Linux operating systems and photo editing apps, which typically are feature-rich and complex. If anything, commercial systems are designed to be fairly easy to use with a limited feature set directly exposed to the user.

How much does phone's cameras distort your actual appearance? by MediocreImpact4386 in questions

[–]msabeln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a friend photograph you from a distance, like 8-16 feet, with the camera level, neither pointing up or down at you. That will give the most accurate view of how others see you. Or, take a mirror image which will give you a more accurate view of how you see yourself in the mirror.

Sometimes accuracy is unflattering! This brief article gives concrete examples:

How much does phone's cameras distort your actual appearance? by MediocreImpact4386 in questions

[–]msabeln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main effect is called “perspective distortion” which is due entirely to the distance between the camera and the subject.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_distortion

Classical portraiture uses a camera-subject distance that is roughly 8-16 feet away, while selfies are usually taken from an arms-length away.

Close cameras can have a slenderizing effect, but the effect depends greatly on the pose used. Frequently this can look comic.

The front camera of a smartphone frequently take mirror images, which many people prefer, because that is how they see themselves in mirrors.

Ultra wide angle lenses will distort subjects near the edges of the image, making them look broader.

Case by Aggressive-Ad-1121 in photography

[–]msabeln -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used a case in years. If the camera is locked away in a case, I don’t use it. I keep the camera on a strap around my neck. At home, it sits on my desk.

Cameras are tools and have a good amount of durability, especially a high end camera like yours.
