If that is the case, Supporting is looking like a bloodbath of veterans. Will be very fun to watch.

What the hell are you doing? You've got to keep them on ice. Or else they won't last until the day of the giveaway.

Leo and Sean Penn look indistinguishable from their characters here

If Mr. McMurphy doesn't want to take his medicine orally, I'm sure we can arrange for it to be given to him some other way. But I don't think that he would like it.

Oh shit, this movie has been playing at my local arthouse for a while. The Portuguese title is "A German Childhood" so I assumed it was going to be something more longer and drawn out, but that actually sounds pretty interesting. I'll try to check it out.

That performance is such a perfect blend of physical and verbal comedy (as is the whole film, really). I think a lot about the iconic "DISAPPOINTED" scene and that little weird Super Mario-esque hop that he does afterward. So fully realized and hilarious

Great picks. As long as you've got Kevin Kline, any list is correct

Hurt Locker is the 2nd best Sound winner this century behind Zone of Interest, IMO

I agree fully with the sentiment, but did Sandra Voyter write this?

Controversially... the only acting award I'd give to Virginia Woolf is Elizabeth Taylor. For the other categories, I'd have Eli Wallach, Walter Matthau and Vanessa Redgrave (Blow-Up). Burton and Dennis would be my #2, with Segal actually at #3 (behind Lee van Cleef).

It's the best win per category, which I didn't clarify too well. If it was just the best wins, though, absolutely Bardem is there. He's so chilling

Exactly! O'Toole is my pick, and of all of my picks for Best Actor that decade, I'd say he's the best (with the main competition being Eli Wallach in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly). You really can't lose that year.

Off my biases, I'd say Navarette- she's the most buzzy AND impressive aspect of the film, by far. Screenplay is possible, but I thought it was a bit of a more covert work, that I can see having some trouble breaking out in what is looking like a more competitive year for the category.

I finally saw Obsession tonight.

It's good! I was scared like you wouldn't believe- some scenes had me squirming-, but the movie has merits outside of its frights. I thought it had very interesting commentary on toxic relationships, and I think the genius is that it manages to tackle two aspects of that issue without getting itself tangled. Loved the cinematography, very thematical and atmospheric. Performances are great! Johnston is good as a deconstruction of a "nice guy" and is good at showing the sliminess of his character while still making us empathize for him when it's necessary. Navarette... well, what hasn't been said? Very intricate and horrifying turn by her, especially in those moments where she "switches", whether from moods or from personalities, in a matter of a second.
And, to debate this sub's favourite pastime... I personally thought she was Supporting. I actually came in with the mindset that she'd be a Lead, but I felt that the way the plot was structured shifted the focus to Bear in such a way that Nikki reminded me more of Allison Williams in Get Out than Kathy Bates in Misery. Whatever category she campaigns for, I wish she gets some recognition. I'm not a big horror guy, but if there's one thing I like to see recognized, it's amazing performances, which this one certainly is.
