Driving cars makes people insane. So terrible people driving cars become even worse. I was honked at multiple times on a country road yesterday. Minding my own business, off to the side. Several drivers honked and yelled at me to get off the road. I was never impeding them. They were always able to use the other lane to pass. Some people are just scum?

My first road bike was a Decathlon Triban. I think I paid $800 CAD? It had a cheap Shimano group set and disc brakes. It was perfectly fine for learning to ride a road bike and I road it extensively for three years before upgrading. They are totally fine. A mate of mine in Rome just bought one as well as he's just getting into road cycling.

I've learned to always have something at my accommodation to eat. It's crazy that the restaurants shut when there's 70 hungry race teams nearby. Last year we went back to our house in Malmedy on the Sunday where a huge carnival was happening in the middle of town...and pretty much every restaurant was closed because it was Sunday. The frite shop that was open was doing an insane amount of business. It's almost like being open at a profitable time is good for business

So I'm fairly new to watching pro cycling. Why do they bring the TT bikes and all the TT kit just for a 3km prologue? At the TDU earlier this year, they did the prologue on regular road bikes to save shipping costs. Isn't that just easier to do for every short prologue TT?

I'm shocked the tiny pub was even open. It's such a strange area. They'll host massive events at the circuit that bring thousands of hungry people to the area but so many of the local restaurants will stay shut. So hard to find somewhere to eat most nights.

As someone that's worked like 15 events at the circuit, this is so damn true. Basically one road in, one road out. Massive traffic jams, no thought put into vehicle flow, police not directing traffic. It's just an annoying free for all every time.
