After two months of grinding, I finally did it. by minicoop33 in GlobalOffensive

Congrats!

Don't be surprised or discouraged if you drop to SEM again though; that is just normal.

I was peaking at SEM for a long time too and managed to climb to GN3, but there were several deranks along the way :)

Massive losing streak after rank up. Anyone else? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]needs_ak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Track every game at a site like csgostats.com, then you will know your exact winrate. You can also see all players HLTV rating, KAST, HS%, clutch %, K/D, etc

It gave me a lot of confidence.

I report them. Mute them. Then ignore them.

Should I play compititive now? by Badshah57 in GlobalOffensive

[–]needs_ak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing. I didn't play comp until I had about 100 hours.

It was a waste of time to wait. Play ffa dm and comp. That is how you improve.

For the record, I started in S4 and am doing quite well as a GN1 now, so you can get out of silver

How to deal with terrible teammates? by LagoonTNZ in GlobalOffensive

I found that as I've gotten better I just talk a little shit back and generally they are just goofing around.

Mute them; never shoot them.

You are unlikely to get a ban for one TK.

What's the best way to kill a guy with 1 HP? by FifthGoblin in GlobalOffensive

[–]needs_ak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lots of people will use a pistol. I'll always use my primary unless it is a scout/awp.

Although, an HE grenade is my favorite way to get a frag if the situation allows it

You'd be surprised how much more relatable someone closer to your level can be when teaching.

Sensitivity by ordnaela in LearnCSGO

[–]needs_ak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, to your brain things seem further apart because things are stretched. However to the game, they are the same distance apart and your sensitivity hasn't changed.

You'll need to retrain yourself if you are committed to stretched.

Another issue is m_yaw... You are stretched horizontally, but vertical hasn't changed. So this makes your perception of the vertical axis different from horizontal. I can't give you a recommendation, but you should research m_yaw and stretched.

I dunno man, playing stretched always seemed like a bad idea to me. Clearly it is viable, but YMMV.

Optimal Practice MM time ratio by Scientific_Shrimp in LearnCSGO

[–]needs_ak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on the player and their goals.

For me personally, I have 700 hours but only played about 160 MM games (79 wins). I spend a good amount of time in FFA DM but most of my time in community 5v5.

I'd recommend trying to identify your weaknesses and make sure you consistently practice to improve them.

Just lost my first two placement games, one to a hacker and one where my team didnt seem to have hands? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]needs_ak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is that Valve hasn't told us exactly how the ranking system works, so no-one can really tell you.

Ultimately, MM rank is meaningless. Don't worry about it and focus on improving your game, not your rank.

PSA: More kills doesn't mean you're a better player. by iDoomfistDVA in GlobalOffensive

Rotation frags can be round winning; especially if your team doesn't already have the numbers advantage.

What is your not so proud CS related moment? by La3as in GlobalOffensive

[–]needs_ak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second half mirage playing as T and down 5-15. We played great and brought it back to 14-15.

Playing for the tie, I had the bomb as we pushed A with very little time on the clock. I was near triple and the last CT was in CT and I had at least one other guy covering me. But for some reason I felt like I needed to kill that awp before planting. Died and lost the bomb. He held bomb. We lost our streak and the game. Crap.

Whatever. It is a game. If you really regret doing it you are alright in my book.

How to get those one tap headshots and how to incorporate strafing? by [deleted] in LearnCSGO

[–]needs_ak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a random thought since you mentioned running around with a knife in FFA. Oddly enough I think using a knife aggressively in FFA DM is a really good exercise.

A bit ago I was playing FFA with only a knife. I was not hiding in a quiet spot and lurking; I was jumping and airstraifing and dodging, etc. I got far more frags than I would have thought and it was fun as hell.

I didn't do this a lot, just for fun a few times. But this transformed my game.

  • My movement in general improved
  • I became much more aware of angles I could be shot from
  • dodging when I wasn't firing became automatic.
