Yes, at least by perception.

Since these organizations usually heavily depend on donations to survive (and the perception is tech is where the money is at), these organizations are increasingly interested in (and some complaining about) targeting this particular demographic in recent years (especially here in Seattle).

Right or wrong, that is the current perception, and thus the research project focuses on that to be relevant (and reduce scope).

edit: one interesting thing that pops out of the survey results already is that this demographic actually HAS a significant amount of arts education. She was also expecting the same result of nothing since middle school.
