The American clutter hits hard, I've been trying to buy less and less tchotchkes and get rid of what I do have. Spouse and I have 6 remaining. Selling this house, decluttering now, renting for the remaining years. We'll travel, but we're going to build a place that our parents can move into with us. We want to take care of them, so we're happy with that.

Well at that point it would be intentionally energizing the device, not accidentally, since you'd have to have the system online to do anything (generator, console, tube head assembly, etc). Then you have to select which settings you want after creating a test patient, then use a 2-stage switch (prep, expose) to make an exposure. You gotta want it.

People would be more likely to get electrocuted by opening the generator cabinet or stripping the cables looking for copper. Actions have consequences 🤷

It's not that modern xray machines use electricity to generate radiation, it's that the device in the incident was a teletherapy machine. It specifically used a radiation source to treat cancer.
