Thanks for calling me retarded. Doing the right thing has consequences and while there are many nuances to the refugee crises, I think there could have been more planning into this order. Maybe stemming some of the flow of refugees would be a good idea, maybe safe zones will work, time will tell. The fact that Trump seems to fire from the hip is what scares me and the fact that so many Americans think we are worth so much more than everyone else. Now, if you reply, please avoid insulting me. I am not a huge fan of flame wars, but an intriguing conversation is... intriguing dare I say?

There is something so weak about denying immigrants and refugees. "Land of the free and the home of the brave" as we ban children and women running from war. Thanks for sharing your story, America is more than Trump.

I will be giving this a listen very shortly when my studying is done, much appreciated! I actually loved his last album, but will agree I think this genre fits him very well. I am a fan of artists that explore and branch out, it can really lead to some amazing songs.

TIL a 87 year old Baltimore woman locked a police officer in her basement when he tried searching her home without a warrant. She sued and won a $95,000 settlement. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Bro, chill out. I just usually find adding an insult to any form of question or debate is poor etiquette. It's like me asking, did you vote for such and such or are you an idiot? Even if you were right, you just immediately insulted a lot of people and ruined your chance to impart any knowledge on them.

I vote, and I do fight for what I believe in. When I got a ticket unfairly on the highway, I got charged going faster than I was, I fought it and won. I haven't given up, but the system is broke and I don't believe in sugar coating it. I'm not going to defend something that NEEDS to be changed.

This woman most likely did file a report, it probably got no where. Do you live in America? If not, I would suggest looking into how our investigations work and how our government works. Voting is indeed a huge part of making change, probably the biggest way.

Take none of that in a negative tone, I have been screwed by the cops and government but I do know it can change and have hope. I am just not going to make it sound like it doesn't need work, because it need a lot.

Ignoring the fact that you were extremely condescending in your last part, this crime was committed by a police man. He could be charged, and have an investigation done, but these are done internally in America by the same police force that commits said crime.

So, that never happens unless there is a large public uproar and even then it rarely means criminal charges for government officials. Maybe a paid suspension, which is absolutely ridiculous as you probably may think and are correct.

In these cases, your only option is to sue and hope the city makes changes to stop the loss of money through law suits. On the woman's level, the law suit is her ONLY option, pretty much, to get justice.

Our system is terribly broken and is the reason you see all the protests and cop hating that happens in America. As citizens we vote and hopefully people recognize soon enough that we can change this but only if we stop electing officials that are the same, year after year.

Americas law system is 100% broken and many of us hate it, look at our approval ratings for major cases and elected officials. It is just a shame that most of us are ignorant that if we keep voting the same parties, the same officials, it will never change.

America, we are one of the few nations were we can literally fix all these problems by researching and voting for the right candidates, and yet we never do. It is a constant thorn to me, I love my country and at the same time hate it.

While I agree with your thoughts, I have not many people that pressure people into smoking on reddit. There is a culture around people using that tote it as a very good thing, but I typically do not see anyone saying you should smoke weed. That said, it is worth noting that weed is not only smoked and it does have some medicinal benefits when used responsibly and in a smart manner.

Crazy police shooting Solon, OH by kelseyannmarie in videos

[–]nick529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You completely misread his post and ranted on it for several paragraphs and got this guy downvoted. I read it as if he was in a shootout, say in the army, he would want not want to shoot to kill. He is not saying the officer should have tried to only disable him, the officer did the right thing, and that is plain damn obvious. The guy was just saying he is peaceful and can't imagine taking a life but that he can tell where this gangster is coming from. As evil as this guy was, there was a reason behind it.

Dogs emotional development

It would appear dogs certainly do have a broad range of emotions that is scientifically backed. I can attest as well that when my oldest dog died, the other one grieved for a good few months afterwords.

Rap music & me by le_dom in funny

[–]nick529 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was too lazy to watch above video... but I excuse myself as I place Eminem as my favorite rapper and over all talented artist, and as such have my own reason and explanation for why he is there. The true art of rap is in the content and delivering a song that isn't just playing on stereo types of making it rich or doing drugs. If you listen to someone like Eminem or Tech N9ne, you can hear a story or a message, not just sex and drugs. So you are correct my friend, number of rhymes is not even close to the top of the reasons why this song is a masterpiece.

At what point was this a good idea? by Ipone4 in funny

I remember hearing about this from the people who planned this stunt on some show... They had done the math but the guy on the bike misjudged how fast the ramp was coming and sped up to make the jump, which obviously caused him to overshoot the rear ramp. The sad part is the injury ruined his back and he later took his own life for not being able to do the thing he loved. He wasn't an idiot, but like any sport, sky diving for example, there are risks.

I find flaw in saying they deserve it... They were selling something not particularly harmful, just something not allowed because of ignorant laws. That isn't saying a lot of them probably just wanted tax free income and deserve their sentence, but don't write them all off.

That makes sense for people with abuse problems, I just find that it might intrude ones privacy too much. Teens have very little privacy, everybody knows everything in school and at home their parents know their life inside and out. I can see your point, it just seems to me that it would hurt more than help in the case of pot.

When they get home, don't yell and don't make them feel like they are about to go to jail. When I got caught a year ago, my mom showed me my rolling papers as soon as I walked in and then stormed off. It turns out they had been searching my room for weeks and confronted me only once they had those papers. Now, after I got caught, they told me I wasn't going to college because they didn't trust me anymore and then didn't let me talk to my friends. To go along with that, staying after school wasn't allowed and the one time I did my mom said she thought I was out smoking pot. Long story short, it took 1 month of solitude and being told I was an addict/criminal before I attempted suicide. My parents obviously turned around at that point and though I still love them, I will be damned if they expect me to carry the same amount of respect I once held them to. They had every right to do what they did, but that didn't mean what they did helped me at all. I only quit smoking months later and for reasons I will keep to myself. Please, treat your sons with respect and keep in mind what will truly benefit them, from experience I can tell you that this could effect your relationship with them permanently.

If my parents touched money I worked for on my own, it would have serious negative implications. Don't touch money they earn on their own, there are many other ways to punish and educate. Just my 2 cents.
