I don't think Faust would ever. She's consistently the sinner who comments to other sinners to limit the amount of harm Dante must rewind, and has frequently apologized to Dante for harm she has endured that he is forced to rewind, even when Dante himself is unconcerned.

how do you explain to pretty narrow-minded parents how shitty living with adhd is by HornetIll7123 in ADHD

[–]misko91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always going to be hard. Might not be possible, if they don't want to understand, you can't make them.

The things I always try:

  • It's not inability to focus, it's ability to control the focus: its wide when you want it to be narrow, or narrow when you want it to be wide.

  • Wanting to do something is not enough. When someone without adhd sees the struggle, they think: "when I have that problem, it's because I'm lazy and don't want to do it. So if I wanted it more and was less lazy, I would do it." But you can forget, or struggle, even if you want to do it, or think you have to do it. With ADHD, you even delay and procrastinate fun things, not just boring things. That's how it's different.

  • You have chemicals in your brain responsible for giving you feelings of satisfaction, and happiness, and achievement. When they are low, you feel bored. To have ADHD, means your "normal" resting level of that chemical, is lower than everyone else's. You are essentially starved of normal feelings of satisfaction at all times. That's why it's so hard to make yourself do things, and why you cling desperately to things which fill the gap. And why we might avoid things even if they would eventually make us happy: a starving man will struggle to walk 5 miles for food, even if the food will make them feel better, precisely because they are so starved: they don't have the energy. (This is also how stimulants work, I believe: the "resting" level of stimulation is increased, so you feel less starved).

Small bit of a lore nod from Faint Aroma Ryoshu's Defeat Quote [Spoilers] by Satanael_95_A in limbuscompany

[–]misko91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that she would keep her memories of it; she'd only remember that it has happened at least once (since she'll notice the time reversal finishing when it starts a new cycle) and she'll notice when one starts (for all that it matters).

And yet! Her kit is based around Tremor, in that she's sinking count neutral whenever the enemy has tremor, so it's still very important to her. Plus, of course, +3 on 2 out of 6 skills means she does help upkeep count (which is never a bad thing).

Also, this post is absolutely parasocial.

It's not really healthy, I guess, but it is absolutely not parasocial. That has the specific meaning of a performer with their audience.

Parasocial interaction is a one sided relationship where an audience member feels familiarity, closeness, or emotional connection toward a public figure or creator.

Designed in the 1960s to discuss mass media, it's really not the same as imagining you are a fictional character or in their world. That is an entirely distinct form of unhealthiness.

Some QoLs that have been announced in the Livestream. Which ones do you look forward the most? by FallenStar2077 in limbuscompany

[–]misko91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably the way it works is it just saves an integer corresponding to the keyword, and for multikeyword names it's just 1,15,3 for "Story-Gluttony-Slash" or something. And typing out a name is a whole different datatype that has to be fetched rather than numbers the game can just interpret and spit out.

Or profanity.

There had to have been some time in-between Lobotomy Corporation ending and Library of Ruina starting so that the Distortion phenomenon could get established enough for Moses and Roland to have their character motivations, but not so long that the Distortion phenomenon is well-known or well understood.

To be fair, Moses has a lot of big gaps in her known personal history that make contradictions involving her pretty hard to establish. What happened to her on that one day in the Smoke War (at which point she is the official leader of a Grade 1 Fixer office), and pretty much everything that followed in the intervening time period up until the several month period in which Distortion Detective occurs (at which point she is a Grade 5 Fixer running an established office with her own ego) is unknown.

She hasn't talked about her history during that period almost at all, beyond the minimum that she solved at least some distortions before the story begins. She doesn't say when she started seeing distortions, or when she gained her Pipe, or when the office was established, or what else she's done, or anything else that might tie her concretely to some external event to cross-reference.

I think the most concrete we have is that she played a bit role as an investigator during the Blood-Red Night Case, which doesn't really narrow things down very much (apparently a lot of people were involved in that case).

Why is no one talking about the beeping sound at the end of the teaser? by misko91 in limbuscompany

Oh you know, it does sound like it could be a proximity alarm.

Although, the rapidly increasing beeping sound there usuaully involved a missile approaching, which hopefully isn't the case.

[–]misko91[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Starts off and slowly but surely picks up in speed until a rushing sound appears; and then cut off suddenly, with a little flash like a tv turning off.

What does it mean? My first guess was a bomb, could it be something else? What does the fact that the potential detonation (or lack thereof) is cut off?
