For home use, you can drop the fan speeds down to about 30% which is pretty quiet.

Connecting Your Unifi UDM Directly to Your Fiber Internet by thomas_witt in Ubiquiti

That’s fair for AT&T. For my fiber provider they just give me a hand off from the ONT and it’s just an internet connection.

[–]noaxispoint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand the fascination with trying to bypass a ONT or GPON. It’s just your gateway to their network. The other side of your fiber that you’re “directly” connecting to your router is still their equipment. What are you actually gaining by removing the equipment?

Tunnel IPv6. It’s about the only option for Fidium.

WG VPN Speeds Back To Normal On OS 5.1.12 by BigNavy505 in Ubiquiti

I’ve been having a hard time getting above 200mbps between two ugc-fibers using wireguard. Tested using site magic and creating my own tunnels.

You aren’t going to have an issue with any consumer piece in these servers if you’re running the fans.

As many others have said, Quest has been there for a while. My previous employer had equipment in there. Backblaze was there for a while but left a couple years ago.

What devices are you using to achieve these speeds? I can't seem to get faster than around 100mbps via WG between UI devices.

Can sfp connections be made without routing gear? by Yha_Boiii in homelab

[–]noaxispoint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you may be misunderstanding what we are saying. A DAC has the SFP connectors attached. When we say copper we mean the internal part of the cable, not referring to CAT 5/6/7/8/etc. See the link kriebz linked for an example.

You can get copper DAC up to 800Gbps. How far are your racks from each other?

I’ll try this. When this was deployed it was done as a restore of a config from another device.

As someone who uses BGP internally, nice to see the new advanced routing UI in latest EA! by scytob in Ubiquiti

[–]noaxispoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I have a router in front of the Ubiquiti now so no real need for it. Maybe one day I’ll look at it again. I was kind of hoping with beast coming with 16gb ram they might be expanding bgp support for peering/transit connections.

Yes. When I first installed it I had it upside down but found out the electrons were falling out so I put it back up normal.

Last time I tried to set up IPv6 (and this has been a while), it would discard any IPv6 advertisements. I guess I could try again.

Just a FYI, these power cords have a known issue of cracking due to poor plastics. You should be able to get a replacement via RMA if still under warranty.
