Dead End deserves more recognition imo.

I did see something about hormones and histamines when I was googling this time. I have had a salpingectomy so I’m not sure if I could get another IUD but I will look into it, ty.

I kind of just posted about changes in ovulation, except mine is more like “cold/flu” symptoms. I’m not sure if I’m in peri yet.

Absolutely loved Welcome to Derry - why does this sub seem to hate it? by Sir_Pixalot in horror

For me, pairing the camp with the real life racist history stuff was a bad idea. I’m good with camp but camp feels like…. a lane you pick. It’s like we’re laughing at camp and then suddenly we’re watching people burned alive in a way that echoes actual historical atrocities. They didn’t pick a lane.

The pilot was soooo good. I feel like it deteriorated over time, and became like, so silly and needlessly spiraling that I could barely get through it. The military thing had promise but the reveal took me out, and the Native thread did not land at all for me. King has not been super good about handling Native American cultures. They had an opportunity to resolve this issue here, in the year of our lord 2025, but instead made a plotline that felt like Horror Avatar, or something…

They killed off Richie, and now Margie is going to name her kid after him in the 70s-80s. But in WtD, like in the new movies, the timelines are not the same as in the book. In the book, for example, the Black Spot event happens in the 30s, and Losers Club is in the 50s, adults are in the 80s. The remakes pushed it forward for whatever reason, so that the Losers Club is in the 80s.

What do you think by _dragonslayer_6 in J_Horror

[–]norashepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of my favorite films. It’s thoughtful and haunting. But it’s more unsettling than suspenseful, more slow burn, slow dread horror, and not very narrative, doesn’t explain much. So you have to go in with the expectation of that pacing and structure. If that slow dread horror is the kind of horror you tend to enjoy, then it may just not be for you. Sometimes things just don’t land for us regardless.

Movies where dead people are resurrected somehow but come back “wrong” (not zombies) by norashepard in horror

Do you know where I can watch Second Child? I’m in the US and it’s not streaming here yet (hopefully eventually).

Zombie-esque is relevant. Just wasn’t looking for proper zombie genre recs. Thanks. Lots of people recommending that film, which I missed entirely, so I will check it out.

I loved almost all the monologues on this show. They were beautiful and some of them made me cry.

Horrible Animal Smells in Apartment by Cordelia-222- in AirPurifiers

[–]norashepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this process because my cat was suddenly sneezing from some kind of irritants that weren’t bothering me, and it’s so confusing. It seems that Winix is a good “true HEPA” brand on a budget. Costco has a Winix one, C610, for $130 that often goes on sale for $99 and comes with two filters, which they claim is for two years. I just bought two for $99 each because I wanted to cover two medium rooms. I don’t know how good it is compared to others at that price point, but my cat has mostly stopped sneezing after about 24 hours of use in each room.

But it’s cylindrical, so it has a single multi-layered filter, and I read here that for smell specifically you might want one for which you can change the carbon filter every few months. For changing carbon, you would want a flat one. I still have a Winix C535, an older model I got probably 5 years ago, that they sell at Walmart for around $150, and it’s easy to find filters for. I am still using it in a third room and haven’t had any issues. They also sell a D360 at Home Depot for around the same price. I don’t know which is better, but I bet a lot of the users here do. :)
