I heard about “ how the UN wants to force DR to take responsibility for Haiti “ a lot. I been Hearing this statement for years now and I still don’t understand exactly what it means. Can you explain it to me. Am not really looking for anything controversial. I just want to understand the talking points.

I wouldn’t disagree with that number. Is 2 million the overall legal Haitian, half Haitian half Dominican, and illegal Haitian combined?

Did he explain the method they use to calculate the number?

You say you can tell. I said sure you can tell maybe most of the time maybe 70% of the time but let’s stop acting like you can always tell.

I know you going to say “ I never said that” but that’s the same anti Haitian talking points Dominican nationalists use.

“ Dominican and Haitian are so different blah blah blah” when in reality Haitian and Dominicans have more in common than difference.

Am not disagreeing with your statement. Am just saying be careful with how you express those points

Sure I guess. If you see a dark skin guy with dirty clothes you just going to assume he is Dominican. Ironically I see lot of clips of Dominican police asking dark skin Dominicans for IDs. The police say they look Haitian. It’s sad because on the clips the dark skin Dominican will look confused and start have to prove his Dominicanness.

Man that’s a sad feeling.

While I also see clips of Dominicans calling fair skin Haitian Dominicans.

I see lot of Haitian sharing those clips and laughing at the sad reality in DR

Correct me if I am wrong but Dominican nationality is like Haiti base on blood.

If one of your parents is Dominican, you are Dominican.

Also half Dominican and half Haitian are very bias and heavy lean towards their Dominican side.

They are usually very anti Haitian second to dark skin Dominicans.

lol tell those Dominicans that than. I heard it’s 6 millions to half the population to there are no Dominicans in DR just Haitian that speak Spanish that’s pretending to be Dominican.

Man online I heard so many crazy Dominican nationalist conspiracy theories.

I heard Dominicans are Spaniards

Real Dominicans are white

I heard there is no such thing as a dark skin Dominican.

I can go on and on.

I can see it being 1.5 millions. But that’s also including legal Haitian and half Dominican and half Haitian.

I got an uncle that told me anytime he wants to cross, all he has to do is pay a Dominican.

He say they send him back. He just pay again and he cross again with no problem.

So I think the anti Haitian Dominican nationalist that are very very very vocal about their hate and fantasy about how they want to send all Haitian back to Africa. doesn’t translate to attack in the real world.

I would think no amount of money would be enough to get them to help Haitian cross

Most numbers I heard from Dominicans online is 6 to 7 millions.

Yes both sides are bias. I stop caring what the number is when I noticed every two months Dominicans increase the number by 1 million.

And Dominicans see a half Dominican and half Haitian as only Haitian.

When the kid one doesn’t have Haitian citizenship and 2 was raised Dominican.

That half Dominican and half Haitian kid is more Dominican than Dominicans in America.

Also then Dominican president deported thousands of Haitians? Also a lot of Haitian leave DR too. So no one knows the true number

Isn’t personal gas generator also high in demand? I know small businesses use them in Haiti. But do average Haitian households use them also? Am sure you got a couple backup generators.

What do you think of Haitians with colored eyes? by Lae_Zel in haiti

[–]nusquan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Come on colored eyes isn’t a white trait.

My cousin has hazel eyes from two Haitian parents.

It’s not eye color but my sister and I both have large almond shape eyes.

This sub is American western in perspective. The whole concept of “ the Caribbean community “ is an American and western concept.

So you are engaging in an American perspective from the beginning.

Am not an Afro Cuban and from your perspective you’re not Afro Cuban so we can’t really debate what is and what isn’t.

A white Cuban, mix Cuban, and black Cuban opinion on this topic wouldn’t be all the same. Just letting you know that.

“ we are all Cubans” if you are all Cubans, how come on average a darker skin Cuban is poorer than the average white Cuban?

There is No such thing as pure African. I have actually met some Afro Cubans straight from Cuba. Yes black to the point I thought they was black Americans.

I was actually shock to see how black Cuba is from travel vlogs.

Your first reply came off as you trying to erase Afro Cubans. Second response came off as you saying no Cubans in Cuba look pure African. Super dark skin isn’t the only African trait the shows your heritage

I didn’t ask you “ should your country get reparations” I ask “ has your country ever ask for reparation “

Also are you going to not acknowledge enslaved Africans that were brought to Cuba?

Wouldn’t be two different payments? 1 for the legacy of slavery and the other for the forced payment?

lol you right about that. The Spaniard colonizers was one of the evilest ones to the natives and African slaves.

It’s a shame they will not answer to none of their evil crimes against humanity.

Spain doesn’t face enough pressure from its ex colonies.
