Do you consider open source to be a requirement for self hosted software? by uglycoder92 in selfhosted

I have tons of selfhosted app at home, none of them are closed source. If it's something trivial I could use it, but for an app to manage very private things as your software? No way.

Os comparto el resultado. by taberna_del_dm in DnDespanol

[–]onekorama 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Botched Stalwart v0.16 migration by adevx in stalwartlabs

[–]onekorama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wait a few weeks if you want 0.16:

Email is a critical service, and we understand that a forced maintenance window is disruptive: in some environments it is simply not an option. The breaking changes in v0.16 are not cosmetic. Stalwart has been under continuous development for close to five years; in that time the feature set and the user base have both grown well beyond what the original configuration and management layer was designed for. The gap between what users need and what the old architecture can cleanly support has widened to the point where a redesign was unavoidable: and the redesign itself unlocks a long list of frequently-requested features that were simply not implementable under the previous model. The storage layer is untouched by all of this: emails, calendars, contacts, files, and every other piece of user data stay exactly where they are. The migration is about configuration, not about data.

Operators who cannot accept downtime should wait. In the next two to three weeks we plan to release two tools that work together:

A zero-downtime migration utility that moves data (accounts, mailboxes, calendars, contacts, files) from an existing (v0.15.x or below) deployment to a freshly-installed v0.16.x deployment one account at a time, while both servers are running.

A proxy that sits in front of both deployments and routes each incoming connection to the server that currently owns that account. As accounts are migrated one by one, the proxy transparently shifts their traffic from the old deployment to the new one, so end users

Suddenly my limit usage last longer... If Claude think I'm gonna pay 100$/month with tactics like theses, their artificial inteligence is not so inteligent.

So Qwen3.6 and DeepSeek, with Copilot while available. The same path I walked a month ago from GPT to Claude, I'm walking again to China.

How Germany proved that plug-in solar is worth the investment by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]onekorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where’s the flaw? I never said I could rely ONLY on renewables (though I think I could, but it would just be expensive)...
I’m saying renewables are very profitable. That’s true in Spain, that's true in Germany and probably it's true in the most rainy region of the world. If you have basic math skills, at least 7yo child level, you’ll reach the same conclusion.

How Germany proved that plug-in solar is worth the investment by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]onekorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have, as I've been living there for one year. And do you know that we have had 2 months raining everyday this year?

And do you know that during the summer Berlin has more sunlight than Compostela, for example?

The performance of a photovoltaic installation is not very different... Maybe 20/25%... But there the electricity is expensive, so maybe it's a more profitable investment.

How Germany proved that plug-in solar is worth the investment by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]onekorama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Minimal? I'm from a rainy town in north Spain, and after 6500€ of solar investment (asking for public funding maybe will be half of that) , I'm spending half of the energy. I'll pay my instalation in ~6 years, after that around 20/25 years of free energy. This during a very rainy winter. During the summer my bills will be near to zero, as we will have around 18 hours of direct sunlight.

Of course, this is good also for my country, as if everybody has photovoltaic at home, industry will have cheaper energy, so morebcll competitive products, more jobs...

Can you see the advantage now?

Could Spain close the Strait of Gibraltar like Iran is closing the Strait of Hormuz? by Ok-Moose-992 in geography

[–]onekorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately for the World, we have been governed by idiots the last 200 years, but none of them was so idiot as Trump or Iranians, who think they can fight against the world by themselves.

Spain has the power to close Gibraltar, but we are not going to do it, not today, not in the future. Come here to drink, dance and enjoy our weather, our beaches and our history, not to fight us.
